How Do you work with pressed fiber ornamentation/fittings

Recommended Posts

First, let me say I am new to the message board/website.   If I have posted this question in the wrong place pls let me know where to post it.

I am working on HMS Victory based on a kit by Corel, 1:98.  I am not using much out of the kit.  I am really puzzled by the hull ornamentation and some fittings.  They are made of pressed wood fiber.  I have attached some pictures to give you some idea of what I'm talking about.  These seem to be extremely fragile/brittle.  I have no idea how to use them, bend them to there proper configuration for installation.

I have emailed Corel, but have not received any response.

Any help/suggestions/guidance/ideas would be appreciated.

They need to be soaked in warm water. They will become soft and workable but ensure that you remove the card backing before you apply to surface. Work with care since they will be fragile but they will conform to curves without breaking.

Another thing,.....I suggest separating the pieces from one another  on the card with an exacto.
