I have phone around and there will be no lights .......

I found it to expensive for what I want.

You could look at these Sjors

They are very tiny, come in many colors, can be battery powered or plugged into the wall and are easy to work with.

Evening Zappto.

It is a interesting ship.

Not only see this one in real but also as a model.

The first was 25 years ago and the difference between the kits arehuge.

The first one i have to saw everything by myself and now it is laser cut.

Also you had two bye 2 boxes....one with wood and the other with the metal parts.

When you really want to do something else i can recommend this one!

Pulling up a chair and will follow this with great interest.

This model has been on my bucket list, like forever.

Many people believe that Captain J. Cook discovered Australia in 1770. They tend to forget that Dutch mariner Willem Janszoon landed on Australia’s northern coast in 1606. Cook never even sighted the coast of Western Australia).

Marcus,

Be welcome!

Of course as  Dutchman is this on your bucket list.....

I believe all the model builders who lives in Holland has build one.

I was looking for it in other forums but the only thing i find where restauration projects.

They build them when there was no internet.

So for me it’s again a adventure.

so you built this one when {back in the day},  it wasn't laser cut..........the two Nordkap kits I have {had},  were {are} like that.   old kits are fun though ;)

nice job on the frame........you seem to be moving right along.   no ABS hull................I thought it did     I must be thinking of the Nederland........the Zwarte Zee does too.   in any case..........she's look'in good so far  ;)

having started out with one of these non laser cut kits......I actually thought it was rather interesting.  the funny thing of it was though,  that the bulkheads in the first Nordkap kit.......as well as this second one I have now {which is even older},  were cut out already.   the instructions mention and list the sheet numbers that they were printed on,  but no sign of the cast off wood in the kit boxes.  my friend Harold,  who owned the first kit,  had most of the hull frame assembled,  so I thought that he cut them out.   the second kit proved that theory wrong.

I think that's what I enjoyed most....having to cut out and shape the parts.   of course,  at that point in time,  I didn't even own a scroll saw.......had to do it all by hand tool.   I still would like to try a laser cut kit of this model though.........mainly,  just to see how much easier it would be,  and to save the parts panels,  so I can clone other hulls

ah, you were talking slices

sorry Sjors, for the capture of your log. However, I do have a question for you. I found the kit's cranes a bit sloppy, any improvement on that part, when I see what's possibke with PE, I wonder why it isn't used on the wooden kits ...

Coq,

No problem if you want to say something .

So no excuses please......

The cranes are make by 2 mm plywood.

When you put it together it will be a kind of box.

In my opinion it's the same as 25 years ago.

Because there is a lot of painting on the ship ( I believe everything has to be painted) the updates are not coming quick.

But they are coming 😀

I painted the deck with a green color that match most of it with the original.

Maybe I will put a layer of varnish over it but that's almost at the end.

Also make the lowest cabin and paint it white.

On this first of januari I think it's again time for an update.

The first one in 2019 and I think a lot more.......

I have make the second row of parts of the cabin and lay the second deck over it.

I have make re-enforcements at the stern and I have to do the same at the bow.

After that I can start with closing the hull.

It's a new way for me to do this.

I know how to plank but this????

The last two pictures shows you how It has to be done.

Hi Cog,

not so strange when you realize where the bends in the hull-surface are.

Although I did never realize that the strip where lthe screws are is almost flat.

I found it an surprisingly easy hull to plank: rahter boxy, and the curves in only one direction. (My first hull was the statenjacht, that one has curves in every direction :) )

yup......that's gonna be an animal to plank........Billing does a lot with flat panel.   I suppose it does look like it'll make her easier to do.   you've made some great progress :)   if you do use a clear coat on the deck,  be sure to use a flat,  and it will look better.  I use flat lacquer mostly........gives a very nice finish.   very nice!

@ Piet,

Thanks ,and yes,she is big 😁

For you and Gwen also all the good things for 2919 .

Also from Anja

@Popeye,

Animal to plank???

I’m gonna use wood.....😜

It looks easy but it is plywood and because of the shape of the bow it’s difficult to clamp.

But i’ll be getting there.

And what is flat lacquer?

For you and Phyllis also all the best wishes and good health for 2019 from us both.

Sjors
