Looking for technique to apply

Bob, this can not be done only by C-plans. Zooming, you can see only bunch of lines without sense. But it gives pretty clear plan of main pieces/fields of whole ornament

Thank you friends for likes and nice comments. Last couple of days, e.g. evenings, I posted from phone, and it is pretty clumsy to write long answers

About cats/dogs and new puppy ...  we all like animals. Dzuki, my 16 years old dog do not see and do not hear anything any more, and , I just can not do this to her - to bring home new puppy until she is live. That is main reason, I have no heart to put her in " as a jealous dog " situation. Let her live her days in peace and all love we can give Her

About mess - as time goes by, it seems less important. But from time to time, I remember ...  where was my today "smartness" and "brain" two years ago ???

About details and detailing ... today while  I was working on decoration letters ( "Cutty sark" and "London"), as yesterday making version #10 of rope under letters, I felt strong fear to slide to dangerous, never ending way ( again  because it can be a little bit precise, a little bit similar, a little bit ...., and over and over and over again). Banged my head, and stopped. " ... Hey, boy, this letters are UNDER stern, and who to hell will get down on his knee to watch this on model ? ..."   Little part in that had 2 hours for "Cutty" letters and another two for "London" letters , and attempt to make some "plastic" and "relief" letters .... just a idiot ...

Thank you Omar, I am glad my posts are useful for somebody

Thank you "Ship wizard" for dropping by and comment.

Little digging information about "Star of India" sign ... and become a little confused ... Do anybody know reason why this sign is on CS? Wikipedia get me confused ...

Hey, Piet, I follow your Log very closely, and like to read about your father and his service. Also admiring to your phenomenal work

CaptainSteve, it is obvious I have a bad influence to you ... as to Bob ...

Mark And Denis, thank for your support and good words ... your presence and comments, as well as your works,  turn me on to try to pull out best from me

So letters are done, rope is done, and to see what section is next ...

Made from thin wood strips

Ok, I think it can pass ...

And now starts harder part with very thin lines, less than 0,5mm. I made some tests, and for now it seems that thin rope will take main role. We ll see tomorow

A great gesture for the dog's well-being.

You've learned a lot in two years, but we can't go back.  There's a limit we put on how much re-do we do otherwise the ship would never get finished.

Next challenge are much thinner elements of ornament, and here is attempt ( with preliminary painting)

post-4738-0-19946100-1417118969_thumb.jpg

So small and thin, and very hard to shape and to glue, and to paint.

The thinest drop of CA I can produce, even on a top of needle is 2-3x thicker than this little wire. Top of my thinest paintbrush seems so large as I try to write font 14 with baseball stick.

Did I try again ? I do not think so

For me, this moment, most important is that it seems that whole ornament (when done) will have main shape, look and feel as on CS

Little digging information about "Star of India" sign ... and become a little confused ... Do anybody know reason why this sign is on CS? Wikipedia get me confused ...

Hi Nenad,

I think I can satisfy your curiosity with the following quote:

Another stern decoration that Linton designed, which has been preserved on Cutty Sark today, included the dreadful pun, "Where there's a Willis a Way". Below it, although not part of Linton's scheme, was the emblem of the Most Exalted Order of the Star of India. This was probably copied, or perhaps even taken,  from Willis' favourite ship, The Tweed when she had been the Indian Marine's Punjaub.

The order has no known connection with Willis - it was established in 1861 by Queen Victoria to reward conspicuous merit and loyalty and was mainly awarded to maharajas and senior military officers working in India - but the Order's motto, which forms part of the decoration, could not be more fitting for any ship navigating by the sun and the stars: "Heaven's light our guide".

(from "Cutty Sark, the last of the tea clippers" by Eric Kentley)

Around the time of the ship's restoration in the nineteen fifties, the original Star of India emblem appeared to be hanging over the staircase in the house of Mrs. Kirkaldy-Willis, a relative of John Willis. The emblem was presented to the ship, so this part of the decoration (or a facsimile thereof) is original.

OUTSTANDING Nenad.  Understanding now that I'm working with small stuff I really appreciate your efforts in the stern decorations.  Your brushwork on the name is fantastic, even when enlarged!  Kudos my friend.

Thank you Piet.

Better looks from distance, but I can not make good sharp photo with this camera. In close ups, for now, rope seems too be a bit masive, but I think still gives nice contrast and some kind of underlineing to the star and letters. I think all will fit well when missing parts of decoration will be done.

All this time I was looking for 3D effect and look, and I think I've got it. In next life it can be more precise, but ... I am satisfied and can live with this

Also, in such a scale, by my opinion, some points of decoration who gives authentical look and fill, and assume to recognize this unique ornament, simply must be a bit englared. Without that, such small, that point looks as splash of gold color, or just dissapeared, and whole thing lose it's feeling and expresion

My booring artistic philosophy

Now is 21:00 I come back from Novi Sad, and it is to late to start working on Her

Outstanding work, my Friend;  simply outstanding!

As an engineer, I'm not overly concerned with my abilities to reproduce technical detail;  but when it comes to artistry, I hit a wall.

You have managed to tackle all of that, and I'll be following your lead on this one...

Please don't get mad if I copy some of your techniques,  Your solutions are brilliant.

Whole ornament is finished.

OK, little color correction here and there ... and maybe adding little drop of yellow to gold color before that ... something to thing about

Considering there is a lot "bash" jobs/techniques applied, tomorrow I'll write little tutorial/explanation. I was a bit inpatience to try and to move forward and forget to explain main steps of this creative journey full of improvisations

Here are pictures

CS ornament - targeted look. Little more yellow tone ? I think it have to be, but maybe later, because front and rear decorations have to be in same color

It looks like, or I have to visit doctor for my eyes

And again "problem" with close-ups ... magnify every little mistake. And when you try to fix it, you realise that you have to move center or end of rope which is 7 mm long and less than 1 mm thin, up or down for about 1/4-1/2mm ... and when you do this, another part moves out of position ... after a while, you look at, and it seems OK, and you make close-up, and see new mistake you made. Another endless circle

I must confess, I have not enough patience to do this more than once, twice

Time to think what is next move
