Due to change of policies from Photobucket all pictures are blocked (can be released by paying $ 400,00)

I am going to setup an new photo sharing system on my own account as I am posting on various forums.

within a few weeks I expect to post some new pictures and summary of the build.

I have uploaded the pictures on my on server http://www.veraart.net/fotoforum/index.php?/category/1
Files are not sorted, filenames unchanged, as this might be easier to update the various posts.

Hi Carl, the gallery is made with PIWIGO a standard application provided by my provider. I have free storage of 10GB, so this can be workable for years now.

It is not doable to update all previous postings in MSW, as when opening for editing I cannot see the original filenames quickly.

But this gallery is a good alternative.

Due to reconstruction activities in our living and kitchen the modelbuilding is now on full stop.

I hope to restart in spring again after my new workshop is ready.

maybe in the coming period some activities during the meetings within our local model club.

We have completed the renovation of our living and kitchen

Just an impression with the Vasa already present. Just waiting now for a final cabinet on which a place is reserved already for the Vasa (even in progress)

Further I have re-organised my wood. This is an old cabinet used for drawings (aged back to 1960) and will be used also by my wife for the storage of her hobby paper for Origami.

Welcome back Jan! Good to see that your Vasa built is continueing!

I see that you have white color for the horizontal parts of the ratlines. Most others (including myself) use dark color. Why the ligher color?

Completed:

Catalina from Mamoli (1/32)

European small river ship (scratch build) (1/50)

Currently building: Wasa from Corel (1/75)

Future: Titanic (Mantua), Batavia (Kolderstok), Friesland (Mamoli), Bismarck (Hachette), Prins Willem (Corel)

question to all other Vasa builders: is there any record which sails have been on the Vasa during her maiden trip in 1628?

I have some input from a animated movie of the Vasa

Fore mast: lower and middle sail

Main Mast: middle sail

Mizen mast: lower (triangle sail)

I am working to start with the sails also and intend to have only the saile as used on the maiden trip

I ordered my sample of Vasa now (the name is changed to Vasa) from Artesania today, this ship has been a life long desire to build. Jan you are doing a very nice job :) on one of  Swedens biggest failures that changed into a very big success, only it took 300 years.

The Swedish king meant this ship to be the most frightening vessel on the sea that is why all this figures exist just to scare the enemies. Though he was a little too keen on seing it to set sail. This ship did not even pass the "Rocking test" when it was set at sea in the harbour, the test was aborted as the ship was on its way to turn upside down. The ship was not correctly constructed from the very start, when it sunk there was a trial, whom ended up in no one was to blame. That depended on the King himself had approved all the drawings. Incompetent King <> Incompetent shipbuilder whos to blame?

There are many stories, but I know for sure that it must have been very hard to convince a war mongering king about reality for any shipbuilder.

I will follow your build Jan with interest keep up the good work.

Finally the Vasa is finished.

Thanjs for all the support during the build. Started in 2011 but had a long stop due to various private issues.

Next model will be a Fluyt from Kolderstok models
