I stopped it but still got banged up. Fortunately for me just banged it up. The blades were not being used at the time I remove them when not in use. Safety first. My arm was broken as a defense action. Attempted armed robbery with a steel pipe. I say attempted because the guy failed to kill me. He tried to make a canoe out of my head with the pipe, and my arm got in the way. He did manage to hit me 4 more times before I stood back up and tore the pipe out of his hands, then chased him with it for about a block, with my ulna sticking out through the skin. Guess he wasn't having any. One of the hazzards of living in the city. It's easier to rob and kill for what you want, then working for it. Wish I could have gotten a picture of that dude's eyes when I took his pipe away from him. Cut a long piece the highth and thickness you want, then drill your hole/s through the entire piece where you want. Then you can pencil in and shape most of the blocks before you cut them apart. Thanks Sapph'. I just used a piece of brass wire (0.8mm dia) for the pintles, and a piece of 1.5mm (outside diameter) brass tubing to form the gudgeons (also, the outside of the pintles). Small pieces of each were clipped to fit inside the shaped brass straps, and then glued into place with two-part epoxy glue (others solder the parts in place). Check out pictures RUDDER7 and RUDDER8 in this post, back on page 29. Also, check this post in Kit-Bashers. And you can try this one for Nenad's tips on building these bits. I'd start with both masts first, the aft-mast belayed to side benches and for-mast to thwart #3. What ever side you put your spars on, the tack and clew are on that side as well. I know we both had funky yet different lines for the bash. I did the aforementioned lines first then the spar lines. This limits the amount of pins available. I threw a couple of half hitches, just enough to hold it temporarily in place. That way you can fiddle with them until they look "right". I don't know the correct placement either, so it was kinda on the fly. I don't remember if my pics were clear on this point, but I could take some better ones and send em your way if want. Matt, Essentially, beyond the lifts, and using some of the blocks for bunt-lines to lift the foot o' me sails, I be planning on using your work as my guide. (By the way, I'm yet to take my lathe out of the box. Once the arm heals up a bit, I plan on taking it for a test-spin a-fore working on a re-do o' the barrels.) There just be no comparison between Chuck's ropes and the kit-supplied crap. The Syren stuff looks better, feels better, and cuts better. As well, it falls in place better than the shiny cord which MS supplied. Can't say that I've seen that which Corel supplies for their kits. Am currently saving dollars for a Table Saw (probably Byrnes, tho' now I see Proxxon have one) and a Disc Sander. Plans are being made to take the lathe up to CaptainAndrew's next weekend for the express purpose of making sawdust (and barrels), so I'll let you know my thoughts on it afterwards. Meantime, back to the rigging and I have questions regarding how the cross-spars are attached to the masts on these type of boats. Does the mast just sit in-between the two blocks on the spar, essentially being attached only by the lift rigging ?? Were parrels employed, as per the spanker yards attached to mizzen masts ?? I'll have to look further to see exactly the configuration of the three. Side note: this means my rigging is jacked and I need to fix this along with my double pulley set up.
