Alexandru,

Your work is almost beyond comprehension. I needed to look at your last post pics three times to fully understand the details of this tiller wheel. Superb!!

That has to be the most ingenious way of making a ship's wheel that I've seen yet.

G'day Alexandru

My mind is numb looking that that Incrediblywow way you done that wheel. As Mark said it's the most ingenious way ever to build it.

Your talent is beyond words! Your lathe work is amazzzzzzzzing. How many rejects did you go through to get all of them done? Your patience is unbelievable!

Hi Alexandru,

It has been a while I haven't been in touch! I see you had a few problems with the curves on the rear lights. As you know the problem comes from the fact that the plans don't correspond to the actual rear "facade" because of the rounded stern and the angle with the top leaning further back. After a bit of trial and error I found the best way to get this right is to use a height gauge for all the various points: corners of the lights, rails etc. You use the plan and measure up from the base (bottom of keel) to the point you need. You also need the distance out from the center line. You transfer the height to the model using a height gauge and cross it with the measurement from the center line. Hope this is useful!

Regards

Bob

Alexandru,

Of course--absolutely stunning work (I'm certainly repeating myself and others with this post).

Such a pleasure to follow and learn from.

Alexandru,

Your work is truly inspirational. On the one hand it makes me regret that I didn’t start this hobby several decades ago so that I would have had a chance of attaining 1/10 of your skill level – and on the other, it makes me happy that I am engaged in a hobby that is so truly remarkable.

Best, Ian

Your definition of small is different to mine! The amount of first class work you have done is huge, if a photo says a 1000 words, I've just seen an incredible novel.

Small progress?  Wow.... amazing work. I would not like to think what would be big progress.

The use of wire pegs to secure the quarter gallery framing is brilliant.

Greg, Mark,

For me this really seems small progress considering I am entering the tenth year of building for this project. But I'm getting closer and closer - I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I even ordered the display stand - it would be ready by mid January next year - see first two pictures.

I also made some more progress -  I won't say small or big this time. Here are the pictures.

Regards,

Alexandru

Hello all,

Thank you for your comments and likes.

I wish to you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Santa was generous with me this year, I've got two very lovely books (first two pictures) - and now I am taking my time reading them slowly.

Here is another update for my build - last one this year. The easy part is completed, the decorative mouldings and sculptures around those windows still to be done. I will give it a try... next year.

Regards,

Alexandru
