Hi Wim.

I spent many years in Korea. I loved the place and people.

I saw a replica of this ship near Seoul.

Always wanted to model this... But could not find any plans/ drawings.

You are making excellent progress on this model.

Thanks David and Anthony for looking in.

I have been once in Seoul for business, no time left to visit the replica.

Nice city and friendly people indeed.

As far as I know there are no seperate plans for this ship.

Cheers,
Wim

Hi Peter,

Thanks for looking in.

I cannot read Korean language, so it is possible the plate name is upside down.

It was a 50% chance :)

It will be difficult to turn it now.

Wim

nice build so far.  I got the 1/100 scale model when I went to korea this summer ( have not started on it yet).  price for the 1/65 and the 1/100 in a Korean hobby shop is about the same as you find on ebay.  one of the places I went to is Namhae Island (southern coast)  to admiral Yi museum and also to see one of the real working reproduction turtle ship in the harbor near Noryang but you can find others throughout the island

Hi Wim,

I was just reading your turtle thing......

Difficult to walk on and difficult to make.

Be sure that you have all your fingers in one piece  :P

But a great job you have done !!

The Armor looks fantastic. There must of been a lot of ballast in the bottom of the hull. You would think it was real top heavy!

Not injured yet :). Think I was lucky this time.

@S. Coleman

I agree that all the armor must be very heavy.

Hi Antony, thanks for looking in.

Hope your kit will arrive soon, so you can start and I can follow it.

It is a fine kit to build, at the moment I am sewing the sails, not my favourite :)

If I have place the first sail (probably this week) I will update the log.

Hi Wim.

Nice job on the sails.

There are so many pictures out there on the net of the Turtle ship.. But none of the ships are the same..

Makes me wonder if any of then are they have any idea on what the turtle ship acutely looked like and just drawn it to notes that have been found.

But I must say the young modeler kit seames to be as near it can be to scale and realistic in its size and build styles.

Looking forward to getting my kit..

I've had the DVD of the " Roaring Currents" for christmas. Watched it twice now... Not much on the Turtle ship But a very good film portraying Korean history and Korean cultural history.

Beautiful, Wim.  These ships remind of some of the early (like da Vinci) drawings for tanks.

Hi Wim.

That is one fantastic build.

My first attempt at ordering the ship failed. Out of stock... After 5 weeks. Yea right. But they did refund me. So all's well.

Decided that I cannot wait for the kit to arrive so I started on a scratch build.

Your model will be the backbone of my scratch But I intend to build it in the Korean method...no bulkheads or frames.

Again what a wonderful ship.
