Can anyone tell me the best way to deck the ship. The plans say a 2 butt shift system, each one 10cm in length.

Is it best to cut each plank 10cm first then glue?

Also what's the best way to simulate the nail holes at the edge of each plank?

Any help appreciated.

Hey Warriory,

Search on here for "tree nail", "trenail", "trennel" or "trunnel". There are numerous methods employed very successfully by many different people here on MSW. A few of these are detailed in Kit-Basher's (see below).

For myself, I drilled a series of holes, inserted the pointy end of toothpicks, and then clipped them flush once the glue had dried.

Hope that helps.
