Excellent work on the boats, Ray, the added stowage and other details really spruce them up. Top-notch rigging there, mate, thanks too for sharing your rope-coil making techniques :)

The ships boats stowed

The two ships boats have now been stowed and lashed down. The anchors were also added, only the rigging left of for access still to do, and the swivel guns to be mounted, the finishing line is just ahead.

Ray, thank you so much for recreating your build log, it is a real wealth of knowledge on the basic techniques that are invaluable to learn from others by 'seeing'.  A really beautiful build!

Cheers,

Jason

The final rigging has been completed this was all the rigging left off to give access to the centre of the ship, a bit of a sence of relief that its all done, only the final photots to sort out and post.

Rigging around the centre it shows how it would have interfeared with access to the boats.

HMS Pegasus completed

Well Pegasus is finished, its been a three year build a bit longer that I anticipated, but we did move house during that time.

How did it all go, the quality of the kit was very good and I recommend it without any reservations. Looking back on the build there were no real problem in producing this fine model, for she really in a handsome ship. The most daunting part of the build was for me was undoubtedly the rigging, not the standing rigging but the running rigging, mainly because there is an awful lot of it, but in the end it was not that bad, the key to this I think was leaving access to the centre of the deck which made tying off the cordage ends ok, I will say one thing, I did use a fair bit more cordage than came with the kit.

The most difficult part of the build was probably coppering the hull, but it does look great when finished. I also think fully rigging the cannons and adding the rope coils were well worth the extra time and effort.

Final thoughts a great kit, makes up into a super model but not for the beginner, I hope this log helps other Pegasus/Fly builders.

So glad you reposted the Pegasus log, I refered to it quite a bit during my build and now I can continue to do so. I just hope she looks even half as good as yours.

Splendid work, Ray, she's a real museum piece, congratulations :)

With the excellent work you've done to this "mini" frigate, I have no doubt that you will make a masterpiece out of her bigger sister, Diana ;)

Aldo
