HMS Vanguard by Alexey Domanoff - Amati

Stern lids. Not much to do, but spent all day.

Hinges are blackened.

Rope is 0.22mm and made on Prosak for 5 minutes. But I can't make pic to show its texture :-)

Just beautiful, Alexei. For some reason your build log isn't getting the love it deserves. Everything is so neat. I love it!

Regards, Keith

Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light....

(it's hard to shoot a film in a dark, and I do not know how to add video not on youtube here :-()

in my blog http://hms-vanguard.blogspot.com/2015/02/blog-post_8.html

or on FB https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=815998308473954

But it's better than just light

Have this kit sitting on my shelf on my list of "to do's" and your amazing work has inspired me to do the kit bashing that I had planned.. Incredible effort on your part. Keep us updated with pics and postings!

Alexey, this is arguably the best Vanguard build on MSW - such great attention to detail and meticulous workmanship. Of course I am a bit biased as I also like to use different woods instead of paint on my models - sometimes a very difficult task but well worth the effort. I really enjoy your work, very inspirational.

Thank you all for kind words.

Letters... CNC

Lanterns - yes, I'm going but still do not how :-) Now I'm wiring decks to make such lights across whole ship.

Capstans are visible :-) I don't like to do extra job :-))))

Alexey, glad to see you modeling again, hope I didn't miss too much.  Your old log here on MSW 1.0 was one of the first that I saw and was a big inspiration for me taking up the hobby.  Really looking forward to seeing more progress.  One question if I may, did you just use clear finish on the boxwood or any kind of stain?

Cheers,

Jason

Where did you find the curved pieces for the cap rails?  I cannot locate them in my kit.

wow what can I say Alexey

I have never seen a build with so much detail on it.

truly a fantastic build that makes me feel like giving up on my future build which I haven't yet started.

still, keep it going I'm watching you:) :)

So let me continue...

Need to put some eyelets for gun tackles.

Make small jig:

Put into the port:

Use needle to pin:

Drill and insert eyelets:

Do the same manner for deck's eyelets:
