Hi Greg, I am about to start my anchors, what size anchors did you order from caldercraft?

cheers Mike

Um, I threw the packaging away, but I went off the CW sizes from the AOTS. Both types used correspond with the 1/64 offerings from Caldercraft if that makes sense?

Hi Greg, do you have any details/drawings as to how the bowsprite horse and net was rigged? also what did you use for the netting?

I have a suggestion on where you should mount your old stern lantern. If you can get your cat to still still long enough!

hi, I have a question - all my rigging references for ships of the Endeavour period shows an open heart for the collars for the stays that rig to the bowsprit (fore stay and preventer) and the AOTS doesn't show what kind of set up ....

I've been lazy for a while. I've finally finished the damage to the front of the bus. I've added some research photos first to explain what I have done in regards to cable and the use of tackle. Plus the damage done by the cat in the first instance. .

Two weeks work, and pretty much the last of the woodwork, Spars and yards done.Lots and lots of blocks and ropes to go. What's the best way to make stirrups?

You are looking great. There re a number of threads on stirrups and various methods for making them. Some use wire, for my Connie, I used thread and superglue.

Thankyou for the kind words. I've got about 100 blocks to strop with served rope now, so several months just to get that done I think. Then figure out how to attach them to the masts with parrels, then the correct order to sequence them so I can still work the running rigging, then fix the large hole in the hull from the cat, then the final ships boat to be completed and slung off the main and fore yard on tackle. The last step will be the base.

The fore and main yards. Several days to strop all the blocks required. Now I have to get the Stirrups and footropes right before lashing them. I think I intend to finish all the yards (11 of them) first so I can work from Bow to stern, low to high. The only blocks missing here are the lower tackle block.

Ok, stirrup time. I used a needle to thread some 1.5mm line around a needle then glued it to form the base of the stirrup, then trimmed it when dry. i then set 15mm of length with CA to set it hard. The using some plastic strip to keep the distances correct at 15mm, slung them underneath the yard and lashed them. i can't actually attach the footropes until I lash the blocks on. A bit of black paint to hide the sins will follow.

A productive weekend so far, blocks attached to both the fore and main yard, and footropes attached and dampened with diluted white glue to get them to fall properly. One they have set to the stirrups i will lash them. Once dry I can re paint.

Hi Greg,

I am envious of your workmanship and hope I can produce the detail as you have.

I have been planking my Endeavour(Amati Kit) for 3 months now, and just getting the 2nd layer going.

A lot of the supplied fittings are going by way of the bin - not happy with them at all.

I have a question if you do not mind.

The hinges for various hatches - did you make them all ? or purchase ?

I have looked a few options, but not happy with any to date.

Mate I tossed every fitting, the only part of the original kit are the frames, first layer of planks, the decking (which I should have tossed) and the windlass. Everything else is scratch apart from the wheel, anchors and the photo fret which is from Caldercraft for their endeavour. The blocks are all from Classicmodel and a few of Chucks. It's probably cost me 5 times what I paid for the kit in 2000ad but I would not be satisfied. Nearly 10 years on and I'm finally getting there!

Hi Greg, nice work on the yards mate; look great!

Better hurry up though I am catching you at a snail's pace :);) (just finishing the lower standing rigging - will post an update soon).

cheers

Main and Fore yards complete. I have not yet attched the tackle as I will use two of them to be lowering a ship's boat and the other will be slung with the tricing lines to the stays. These are hopefully the most difficult of the lot with so many blocks to attach. Only 9 to go!
