  1. Thanks everyone... I appreciate the time to respond. The bulkheads are all uniformly 1 1/2 inches apart. They also fit firmly in place. The plans show "an option" to placing support between bulkheads. I noticed on some builds others have used them. I think I will do without permanent supports. Thanks again, Poppi
  2. I have noticed on some builds that people used support beams between the bulkheads for more strength and I assume for alignment. I am currently building Model Shipway's Bluenose and I was thinking about using 3/16th or 1/4 inch dowel for this purpose. My thought was to clamp the bulkheads (aligned of course), drill a hole through the bulkheads and then with the bulkheads in place on the keel, slide the dowel through and CA glue it as I align each bulkhead. This could be done before the PVA glue used to seat the bulkheads dried. Of course the stem and stern bulkheads are too small for this but are more easily managed. Comments please, thanks, Poppi
  3. Thanks Russ and Chuck, I like your ideas. I will use one of them after I see what I can "round up" in the wood department. Since I have not glued the bulkheads to the keel my options are open. Thanks again, Poppi
  4. Hey folks, I am building the Bluenose from Model Shipway's. I have looked at the Bluenose build logs on the forum and in one of them the person, don't remember which build log, said it would have been helpful to put in a false deck before planking the deck. The kit does not have or call for one. It makes sense to me and I would like to do that. What will this affect, if anything, with the contruction outcome? Also, what wood to use? Thanks, Poppi
  5. Thorbob, thanks for the "do-over"... I am just starting this build and your log is very helpful, especially with the quarterdeck planks. Question... you sprayed the paint, how? I am planning on using my airbrush at that point. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Great job btw!!! Poppi
  6. Hey d'brat... I too am currently building the Bluenose (original 1921). It's my first build and will post a build log soon. So far the keel and bulkheads are complete and I will be planking shortly. Started before I found this forum. Kit is a Model Shipway's and online it was shown as Bluenose II, however, the kit I received was the orginal. Which actually I prefer. It is 1:64 scale. Will look in on your progress from time to time. Good luck! Poppi
