  1. Having built 5 wooden kits now, I would not recommend any Artesania kit as a first build. My first Atresania kit, the Mayflower, had belaying pins, eyes bolts and blocks in insufficient number (which are easy to get), but the rigging plans were ambiguous and contradictory. Instructions for planking are, ate best, vague. In addition to this, the box photo of the Mayflower shows hardwood outer planking on the complete hull but the instructions show that the hull should be painted white below the waterline. Artesania do not supply enough outer planking to complete the hull. I tried to order more from Artesania via my local model shop, order confirmed by Artesania in Spain, etc. After waiting four months, I gave up and bought more online. Missing parts appear to be commonplace and seem to be a problem to resolve. My current build is the Scottish Maid and my problems with the stern transom brought me to this website. This new kit has had many problems familiar to other members; when it first arrived the outer planking was missing, as was one sheet of laser cut walnut parts (I had two sheets 'C' no sheet 'B') and some metal fittings were also missing. I'm English but I live in Poland, so, the model came from China to Poland to me, then to Spain, back from Spain to Poland and still has one metal part missing.
