    We all have to start somewhere .... Actually going to start a NY Pilot boat at the same time look for that log in a week or so

    So far so good! Not bad for a few hours before turning in... Trying to figure the best way to secure the sub-deck to the bulkheads due to the slight curvature. I guessing CA is the right glue in this case. Sam "It's never too late to have a happy childhood!"

    I see what you mean Dave, very soft. Have to use a light touch! Have you are anyone else here tried a softwood hardener? Minwax makes one that is designed to re-enforce soft wood fibers. I am going to try a test on some scrap.

    The build log begins! Dedicated to my sailor girl! Funny but I thought I would be intimidated by the abundance of parts but fortunately I am not. Wish me luck boys, I need this done by January / Feb 2015 and awaaaay we go ... Scale 1:63

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
