  1. It's true Tony, I'm following Chuck's build as well and I would love to try and build the cutter but i'm a bit afraid of the measurements, for somebody who grew up in the metric system it's very hard to adapt to the imperial measurements. Great work Chuck I really like the build! Jantje
  2. Not much work done as I have to work 12 hrs shifts. I managed to paint the hull and got some of the deck bits ready. Jantje
  3. Thanks Omega. This is my first SIB that's why I choose the light bulb the “neck” is a bit wider than a bottle.
  4. When I was cleaning on my vessel I found an old big light bulb. As I love the ships in bottles I thought it would be nice to put a little ship in there. As the entrance is not that small as a bottle it is a nice exercise before I start with a real bottle. I made a little waterline hull from wood and made some bulwarks from a sea chart which is a nice and strong paper. I made a stand to hold the model and drilled holes for the gun ports. These are squared with a little key file. The bowsprit is made from sanded down tooth picks. I made the gunwales of a suture kit which contains very fine silk thread (you can still see the needle on the end of the thread). And I painted the lower part off the hull. Jantje
  5. Thanks all, My boatswain stored them like this. The hold is almost empty probably its the end of the trip. I'm going to coil some rope on the rack to fill it up a bit more. Jantje
  6. Hello all, Im building a cross section of HMS Victory.I put two barrels across on top of the ballast on PS and now I was wondering if there is a rule of thumb for the storage of barrels, longitudinal as on SB or across as on PS ? Kind regards, Jantje
  7. A merry christmas and a happy new year for you and your family. I’ll keep following you in the new year your build is a big example for me. Jan
  8. Hi Jeff, looks like a very nice kit. I have to keep this one in mind for the future. Currently we have a live size replica in port in Gibraltar http://www.schoonerpickle.com/ . Hope to see an update of this build soon. Greetings, Jantje
