Not sure where I put this discussion. Please move if needed I purchased MS 2020 Mayflower at 1:76 scale = 5/32" = .1563" = 3.969 mm I purchased Bob Hunt's Mayflower practicum, without paying attention, which is for the Artesania Latina model, at 1:64 scale = 3/16" = .1875" = .4.763 mm Comparing the two .1563/.1875 = .8336 If Bob says cut 5" do I cut 5"x.8336 = 4.168"? Likewise if he says use 1/4" square board do I use 1/4" x .8336 = .2084"? Using mm may be more precise but the question remains the same. I know I should consult the plans first but if there is not a clear picture can I make the modifications as outlined above? Or maybe I'm simplifying the calculations too much and the approach should be entirely different? I'm obviously not a mathematician! Thanks for your help. John

Nice work! Much better than mine! Like you and others I'm also on my decade long quest to finish up this model, in fact I'm almost finished with the rigging. Maybe 6 more months! We do have patience!!!

I seem to have conflicting plans, or I am misunderstanding the belaying plans, compared to the instructions from the Model Shipway drawings. Drawing 8 calls for the truss to be belayed to the cleat on top of the upper crosstree, as detailed under "lower truss details". Bob Hunt's practicum says that the truss is belayed to a cleat installed on the cross tree. The Belaying Plan, which is printed on drawing 6, calls for the trusses to be belayed to pins 44 and 45 described as "Fore Truss Pendant Tackle", similar instructions are for the main and the mizzen masks. Lennarth Petersson, although a different outline for running through the yards, shows the truss eventually being belayed to the deck as well. So do I belay to the upper cross tree or do I belay to the deck? Many thanks for your help. This forum is a godsend for us amateurs! Thanks. John Gilchrist Rosenberg, TX

Thanks. I have used some message stickers in the past but they would always seem to slip out of the loop. I'll give it another try with newer stickers. I'm also going to order some of the plastic sewing clips. I've used the small wooden clips but they didn't seem to hold the whole loop together as the clamping space was too small. In my build of the Conny I prebuilt the masts and hung the various lines, taped together in loops until I installed on the ship. Now as I take the tapes off I'm finding little pieces of glue which are sticking the lines! Major mess! Any suggestions as to a better way to store the lines until they're used? Thanks. Building MS USS Constitution. I would appreciate anyone's comments as to how tight the shrouds should be. Currently I'm tightening only to make the shroud straight as it connects to the blocks et al. I'm concerned that once I start mounting the ratlines there won't be enough tightness and the shrouds will start sagging. Your comments are sincerely appreciated. Thanks. John Gilchrist Rosenberg, TX
