  1. Hello Kurt and thanks for taking the time to advise me. I have built the ROYAL YACHT CAROLINE, SANTA MARIA, FIFIE and TROTAMARES so I think I could tackle this complex lovely ship. Will make a decision soon ! Regards Donald
  2. Many thanks for your information and assistance. One question I would like to ask and hope you can advise me. I see that the planking for this model is laser cut pieces from a wooden sheet. I would rather plank this model with lime and mahogany strips. What would you advise. Is it possible with this model? Thank you Donald
  3. I would like to make this model but in the UK it costs £240 and looking at the contents in the box, I wondered if it was rather overpriced? What do you think? Thank you Donald
  4. Hello Patrick. Thank you for your information on the FIFIE. I am still awaiting the delivery of my kit! I am not fully aware of how the forum works. Could you tell me where I can locate your log? Thank you Donald
  5. PJG, Have just ordered this kit. Don’t know when it will arrive with the current problems with orders and postage but I would be interested in your build log. Please let me know when you start. thanks Donald
  6. Looking at the plans on this posting for the Amati FIFIE, I cannot believe this vessel is 470mm wide. Is it , in-fact this wide ? thank you Donald.
  7. In the very informative reference books I have regarding the Bounty, they state the Navy Board was unlikely to authorize any changes in decoration other than painting the hull. The standard colours of the day were blue for the plank, black for the wale and yellow for the trim including planksheer, rails, stanchions, taffrails and headrails. The deck, masts and yards were left as natural wood and the cabin panelling was painted white Donald Leaton.
  8. That is very interesting concerning the ALLEN. Following on from that I found this article after a web search http://www.lcmm.org/shipwrecks_history/shipwrecks/war_1812_wrecks.htm
  9. Hi Aliluke, I found the Swedish website with their build of the Arrow. Looking closer at the picture of the ship with the awning, I see a 'structure' on the port side that looks like a stabiliser of sorts or something similar. Any ideas what that could be? Thanks Donald
  10. Hello Jiljilia. This is my first post on this website. I was hoping to find a member who had completed the American gunboat 'Arrow' and was pleased to see your thread. It looks like not many people have built this model. I recently purchased this kit but was a little surprised to see the planking was only 3mm wide. Did you complete your planking using this width or did you opt to increase it to 5mm wide? It would make it a lot easier to plank I would think. Just curious Thank you Donald
