Question about stoves and how the rotisserie worked
Buick nut replied to Modeler12's topic in Nautical/Naval History
It is very plausible that it could work have you ever heard of a Venturi? It more like the smokestack and hood upside down the hotter the exhaust is the faster it will rush past the fan blades turning them and in turning what is ever on the end of the shaft, oh BTW if you don't know what a Venturi is it basically was on most if not all cars at one time before fuel injectors were invented so yes I very much could if not did work at one time -
Thanks Coleman and Dan, My father is a natural inventer/engineer, and we have a blast with the little stuff like that you are right it is more of a science to us but it's the way we think we like to have our ships looking straight .i say we because ill be building two more hulls from this kit having made copies and templates of all of the parts before they get used So I can make her sister ships as well from scratch
-
Ok a little bit of an update he has done some work and I'll post some pics of what he has done so far The top pic is what he made to hold the planks against the hull.which is plastic cloth spins with nails epoxied in. The lower pic is of his home made miter box for his razor saw from a couple of blocks of red oak

Ok I do have to say something about the fuss being made about the plans being off first I was an R/C airplane modeler building directly of the plans weather they were off in scale isn't and wasn't an issue if a person bought plans of this model and used the plans as patterns the ship will still come out the same I suggest using the plans as a guide and not take everything for granted that the plans are spot on being a modeler is having the skill and knowledge to work past it if you know the plans are off for the pieces you need to make from templates just cut the wood a little larger and custom fit them until they look and fit right. so may I suggest to getting back to ship building. Are you crying? There's no crying in model ship building. And no whining either lol
-
For this build my father will be the Shipwrights. But as he builds this I'll be making two sets of templates so I can build the sister ships the uss United States and the Uss President from scratch and once I get the piece's made I'll start my own build logs for those in scratch build log section of this site

If I'm correct the constellation is in the same class as the congress. The Constitution, United States, and President are in the same class because the distance between perpendiculars is the same

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
