Unfortunately no work in the Sirius this weekend as had orders from above to make handles for the wife's sewing machine screwdriver and her unpicker thingymagig, First try at turning with the screwdriver and then went mad with some glued together strips for the unpicker, the small one in the middle is a piece of naturally two coloured ebony
The machine is a 1932 Jones in beautiful condition so I thought I had better put some effort into the handles to match the workmanship on the machine, she chose three so that means I get to keep the bottom right for one of my xacto saws bargain!!

Skid beams being test fitted
and a couple of holly planks being used to check the flatness of the forecastle deck

The forecastle is completed apart from some lodging knees, I have also cut the skid beams ready for cambering, brodie stove finally hidden under the beams after all this time
Foremast partner is in the process of being test fitted, I also added some chocks on either side of the fore bitts as seemed very weak area, the two iron knees can just be seen in the photos
Regards
Paul

The red light is a laser level that I'm using to make sure everything is centred properly

Deck planking all completed, seven coats of sanding sealer sanded with finer paper inbetween each coat finishing with 0000 steel wool
I have added the bolts ln the corners of all the grating coamings and now finishing the rear part of the waterway
I promised the wife when I had finished the deck I will go back to working on the Sirius so this could be the last post about the cheerful for a while

Started work on the waterways, curved scarph joints are a pain
I'm using ottili wood for the waterways, I was given some sheets by friends who own a boat yard in Windsor (they are currently refurbishing the last Dunkirk vessel still afloat and supplied the boats for the recent Dunkirk film) its quite grainy but is a lovely colour

Thanks Michael and for all the likes, I did think to have them working, opening and closing but with the frames at 1/32 it might be difficult
I have added some hinges and opened one side, they will go up and down but will be very fragile and probably mot accessible when completed so I'm thinking to fasten one side and leave one open

All deck furniture completed, now into waterways and then planking, I'm going to try and have the skylight windows opening

Bolts added at the tip of the standards, bottom will be put in when fastened to the deck, ironwork added to the companionway, gratings also completed, I have simulated the bolts with pencil, only one though couldn't get two in there, I should be able to start deck planking soon

Not much done lately due to the beautiful weather we are having, I did rip out the first window in the gallery as I wasn't happy with it, the centre mullion wasn't in the centre so I remade it
It looked really much better to my eyes but now in the photo I'm not sure although the mullion is in the middle which is an improvement, I've done some work on the cheerful as well planking completed, mouldings on and one bulwark finished and painted , I will add some pictures when my phone decides to upload to OneDrive
Thanks
