  1. I can't tell you where you can get the walnut strips. Unfortunately, my dealer in Germany has not survived Corona. I don't mean that in the literal sense, of course... The dimensions of the slats are different. I have slats that are 1, 1.5 or 2 mm thick. The width is usually 7 mm. But even that cannot be generalized. The barkwoods are completely custom-made. Piece by piece according to a pattern that I drew on the hull. This is explained in my forum. The wood for this was 2 mm thick and 2 cm wide.
  2. Thanks Robert, But right now I feel like I'm pushing my limits. I love working with wood and getting creative. But the thing with the threads doesn't want to work out the way I'd like it to. It starts with not understanding the plans and ends with it not looking the way I imagine it or see it in yours and others builds. So you really have my respect for your work! Best Heinz
  3. Well, then get in touch if you ever jump over the border :). You are invited!
  4. Hello Sjors, difficult to tell what you did wrong. I also had very big problems placing the cannon gates in the right places. For the top row, I thought about what could happen in advance. The worst would be if the cannon gates were cut too deep. Then I would have had to file away the wheels of the cannons if they stand too high. If the cannon gates are too high, it doesn't look nice either. It was therefore clear to me that I first had to plank the deck and then use a cannon to determine the correct height of the cannon gates. I only trust on myself and what I see and not on a drawing or a prefabricated part in the construction kit. Then I inserted the frames in the gates and attached the second planking outside in the last step. What has you to do now? Same as what I wrote above! Align the cannon gates with the height of the cannon and move the gates to the right position. Unfortunately, you have to redo part of your planking. This is annoying, but the result will be worth it. Many greetings Heinz
  5. Hello Sjors, thank you very much for the kind words. I am honored! I am curious how you will find your way. Please don't forget that I don't have a lot of experience. I think about something and try to implement my ideas. I admit that I am enthusiastic about my own result and very proud of it. But a lot of it was also luck and the way there is definitely not always the best :-). I will follow your work now !!! Best to you Heinz
  6. welcome Will! And thank you for your nice words. Feel free to ask if you need advice. The forum helps me so much!
  7. Hello my friends! I have seen so many nice pictures and progress by all of you, that I decided to make an update for myself. In the meantime, I began with the mizzen mast. Of course, the same work as on the other two masts. But still the opportunity to post a few new photos. I wish you all a great weekend!!! Heinz He
  8. Wonderful work, Robert. Now I know all my mistakes... keep on the good work! Best Heinz
  9. Mort, it's been my pleasure to help you. If only I had known earlier what is possible in model making ... Your Victory looks great! The best wishes to you! Heinz
  10. Robert, what a fantastic result. It looks so realistic and neatly worked. I really don't know, what I like more: yours or mine :-)))) (I am joking... I like both!) Happy new year to you and your family !!!
  11. Hello dear friends! Not really an update - more the chance to wish you all the best for the coming year. It was crazy! Hopefully next year everything will be back to normal soon! As you can see, I started shrouding the main mast over Christmas. Of course I ran out of yarn on the last shroud. Now I have to order new one first. I started building my Victory 7 years ago in December 2013. That's why I always get a little nostalgic during the Christmas season. Also today I looked back and found a photo that was taken yesterday 7 years ago. I never thought that I'm working on this model for so long (I admit, there were breaks in this time...) . But it's still fun like the first day! I wish you the best for the next year!!! Heinz
  12. Hello Robert, I had the same problems. At first I didn't know where I could get a suitable network from. I tried fly screens and looked for fabrics. I didn't like anything. So I tried to see if I could knit, hackle or knot a net myself. And doing it myself worked very well. However, it was a lot of work. Just like everything else on the model. But now I'm happy that I don't have any plastic on the ship. I did the fastening of the net just like you did. If I see that correctly. I "sewed" it in over the stretched cord. Looks good and holds up well. Heinz
  13. Hello Robert, wonderful work! Congratulation! Very clean, down to the smallest detail! And thanks for the photos. They will serve as a template for me 🙂 Best to you! -Heinz-
  14. RKWZ and Sea Hoss: thank you very much for the great compliments. Building is twice as much fun with you! Thank you! -Heinz-
  15. Hello friends! Time for a new update and some new pictures I have made today. I have a few free days and started with the main mast. As you know, I don't use the wood from the model kit, but only my own wood. As always, my first attempt failed, so I had to start again. I also hat to tie the net twice. Now the lower section is done and I am quite happy with the result! At least I took a new picture of the rear of my victory, using the "portrait-function" on my iPhone. I like it 🙂 Best to all of you and a happy pre-christmas-time!!! -Heinz-
  16. I have to apologize. I forgot to post the promised photos ... As you can see, there is not much progress. But there will be times when I will work more on my Victory ... I promise! Have a nice Sunday everyone! Heinz
  17. Thank you! All is well!! It´s just a matter of time. I found a nice woman. She is from Thailand. We plan to move to Thailand sometime when we are financially independent. Until then, I'll try to learn the language and have signed up for a language school. It is very difficult and takes a lot of time. But that's life... I will take some actual photos of my Victory afterwards. Then you see that unfortunately not very much progress ... Best -Heinz-
  18. Hi Dean, Thank you for your kind compliment. My rigging drawing? I work with the Jotika kit (Caldercraft). All plans are included here. I just use different materials to build my Victory. That's all! Best -Heinz-
