    Looking good Derek!

It looks like a "spider web" of wood.

Will this cross section have a mast?

    Thanks G.L. I appreciate that .

I have finished the lower deck . And added a coat of  clear poly to the underside and half the top side , leaving the side that I’m planking bare. I have not glued it in place yet . I want to set the center support beams in first then I will glue it in .here is a few pictures pics of how she is looking.

The First two are without the poly.

The next two are with the poly I tried to get a shot of the under side while it sat in place ....I’m no photographer

Next will  be the supports ,
Thanks for checking on my progress.

Tom - that barrel almost looks like brass. Mine were pewter. If you're not satisfied with the height, you could make some slightly oversized wheels.  Don't forget the quions too. Depending how far you shove it under the cascabel it will give the muzzle some additional height. It doesn't look bad as is.

    Evening,

Time for a short "weather report" and a build update.
I had to share the below 3 pics from New Years Day.
It was about -25 degrees with a wind chill around -35. It was an advanced cold!
I live in Western Central New Hampshire, about 2 minutes from Vermont. I've seen some cold in my time, but dang! That was ridiculous!

As brutal as it was, it sure was pretty.
These are from my back deck.

    Anywho....

    Time for a build update.
I finally finished planking both inner and outer bulwarks. Leaving the very front of the bow and the stern for last.

Before I start planking the bow, thought I would try my hand at a cannon.
I have built a few of the carronades already. Just needed to clear the brain with something other than planking.
I used the laser cut carriages, some scrap strips will be used for the axels.
I'll hone these down to fit the laser cut wheels....trucks?
The cannon cleaned up easy enough. This will eventually get primed then painted.

Using some "pseudo" decking and did a dry fit.
They seem to fit the gunports.
I'm hoping the wheels add a little lift.

    Stay warm,
    Tom E

I am going to need to see a therapist. I still have to continue the work on Cheerful and now my mind is racing ahead to The Barge. I am hopelessly addicted. I will be in your fulfillment log this year after I order the remaining Cheerful parts. Good to see more upbeat news from you!

Just wanted to give you guys an update.  I actually have 12 barge kits all made.......that is all except for the castings.  These take such a long time to do by hand.  I was all set to start casting them when out of the blue one of the companies I had contacted got back to me.   I had contacted dozens of firms to outsource the resin casting for the kits but most would not take such a small job.

But this year is already looking up!!!  One such company has decided to cast my pieces and I am very excited about that.  This is a huge development for me,  I would hardly be able to spend time developing new stuff if it took so much labor to make every part on my own.  I just couldnt handle doing this work manually.

As wonderful as the news is,  it means that these 12 barge kits will be just a bit longer before I can offer them for sale.  I am sending the masters down to these folks and they promise a quick turn-around.  As soon as these guys deliver the castings I can release these kits and make many more so much quicker now.  It took me 3 or 4 days to cast all the parts for six kits by myself.   It just wasnt doable.  And these guys are professionals who do this all the time.  They cast and design resin figures.  So these parts should be great and better than anything I could make.

Sorry for the continued delay but I want everything in these barge kits to be just perfect.
    Chuck
