What an interesting display plinth/diorama for this large model! I'll bet it was a diligent search to find the right table of nearly exact size to accommodate the vitrine.
- Oh yeah, your model looks impressive too!

Esap,
Thank you. Walnut can be hit or miss, especially strip stock because the grain easily splits. The planking strips in the Caldercraft Diana kit were reasonably well-milled I recall. The kit also came with copper plates but I decided to not add them because the (walnut) hull planking came out nicely. I usually use a Minwax natural stain on most woods, then apply a satin Wipe-On Polyurethane finish (also Minwax). Recently I've tried using Watco Danish oil in place of the natural stain: it imparts a slightly "richer" look to certain woods like Swiss pear.
Most European kits supply walnut dowel for masts and spars; I have typically used these for fireplace kindling and replace with either boxwood or Swiss Pear (beginning with square stock) and scratch all masts and spars. This choice (usually boxwood, but sometimes Swiss Pear) makes a "bare poles" display especially nice looking to my eye. Attached is a more recent photo of another model with Swiss Pear masts/spars. I like to match the deck planking and often, the hull woods.
I hope this information helps. Aesthetic choices figure highly in my modeling.

Aloha, 🏄♂️🤙.
This just might be my favorite SIB ever. Your rendition of the water is superb, not to mention the really well-done execution of the unique canoe.

Very nice model. The detailing is especially nice and I do like the variance in the color of the sails. Nice, in-focus, clear photos too.
Bravo!

Very nice, well-lighted photo of a superbly crafted model. Congratulations.

A very unique presentation of an excellent model.
I like the cutaway, the ballast and exposed framing. There are many very nice details to your model. Your carving of the decorative pieces is superb.
Congratulations!

What an interesting model. Thank you for posting your photos. I especially love all the "mini-sails" to catch every possible quivering breeze. The spikes on the stem must have had an evil purpose! Hard to believe this was a fishing boat...😂

What a beauty! Congrats. Your shiny coppering will get that nice dark brown "patina" in good time.
Nice display too: I like the LED top-lighting surround.

Very nice model - love all your attention to the "slice of life" detail.

The hull shape is really unusual. I wonder what the thinking was behind it.
SPEED - The lengthy, sleek hull combined with the spread of sail (12/13 fully-sheeted) would make her a Formula 1 warship of her era. Too bad she was easily cutout in the Chesapeake by the Brits when the Yankee crew apparently fell asleep...

Great little boats. Nice photo work too!
Nice lighting and choice of background. Cell phone optics & sensors have come a long way - they nearly rival some DSLR's.

Thanks for the details. Tokugawa, as in "Shogun"- a classic film. Kool. I like that you included your own avatar that is incorporated into the kakemono.
You may be aware that the kakemono on my (Higaki) kaisan reads: "Ongakuka" (maru). Ongakuka = musician.

Is there a particular significance to the small square “box” pedestal with the medallion? Curious minds…your presentation makes this beautiful model’s purchase seem very unstable, but perhaps this tension is what you were after?

Superb work, Tom. I especially like that you gave her a full suit of nicely-executed sails, working & furled.
I hope to see your Morgan in New London later this month...
