    Hi EJ, Thanks for the tips and encouragement. Do you recommend dry fitting some of the planks to get a better idea of the fairing? The drawing are a little fuzzy to me. Cheers Mike

    I cut a pretty ugly rabbit myself. Also, I ordered a manual jewelers saw after my experience carving the transom. No way I could carve the counter blocks and filler blocks by hand. I can cut them to the rough shape with the saw and then trim and sand.

    Hi John, You're slightly ahead of me on the Rattlesnake, so I look forward to watching. I had trouble with the bulkheads not sliding into the keel. I broke two of them before I gave up and cut a small groove in the bulkhead with a chisel and sanded out the slot. They fit pretty well now.

    Hi All, New member from Seattle and new to model building. Have just started the Rattlesnake. Looking forward to gluing little pieces of wood to my fingers.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
