  1. ...and now that I’ve watched the YouTube video on cyanoacrilate, I learn that using too much slows the cure. Mystery solved.
  2. After carving, sanding, and stabbing myself in the hand (✋🏻🔪ouch), I glued the sternpost, keel, and stem assembly onto the hull. My only concern is the gap between the bow and the stem assembly. It’s about 3/16ths of an inch—much wider than it should be. I plan to fill it with wood putty...
  3. I had a busy couple of weeks and returned from out of town and got to work marking the centerline of the boat. A fair amount of trial and error so far, but the instructions that came with the kits are very good.
  4. While the bow was straightforward, the stern is . . . wonky. The deck overlaps considerably. I’m not sure what to do, exactly. Cut the overlapping portion of deck with an Xacto knife?
  5. The next step is to find the center line using the laser-cut deck as a guide. I lined up the mast hole in the deck with the mast hole in the hull and made three tick marks.
  6. I started by sanding the hull to match the laser-cut bow and stern templates. I immediately ran into a problem when the bow did not come close to fitting the bow template.
  7. Hi MSW! This is my first model ship build. I chose the Yankee Hero from Blue Jacket because it was designed with inexperienced people like me in mind.
