    Well Jpett was quicker to it than I was (there's soccer on telly!) Anyway I was about to suggest drybrushing too. If I were you I'd paint the cranes in their usual battleship grey; give them a wash in grey toned down with black using water based paint (this will enable you to wash it off again if it happens not to turn out the way you want it to). Once you're pleased with the wash start drybrushing. I have noticed whenever I do drybrushing: drybrushing really means DRYbrushing. Only start it when there's hardly any paint left on the paintbrush. Peter

    She's coming along nicely. Did you airbrush the cranes or use an aerosol can? Perhaps you can repaint them in grey? Keep up the good work! Peter

If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
