  1. I got the stage and its boom done and its rigging attached. I attached the cranks. pitman arms and paddle wheel which I had built previously.
  2. I attached the permanent rigging for both the stacks and the mast. I also installed the whistle and flue stack
  3. I got the stacks permanently installed and I am starting on the rigging for them.
  4. Thank you very much! It doesn't always look this way! I got the hog chains installed. Starting work on the smoke stacks and insignia .
  5. I finished the mast and boom but I think I'll wait to install them permanently until I've got the stacks in place. I went ahead and installed the braces for the wheel house.
  6. I started working on the knuckle joint for the boom and had the water shields for the stacks from styrene.
  7. I've been working on the bow. I attached the elevated sideboards ( I don't know what they are actually called). The bitts and capstan are finished and attached. I've started work on the mast.
  8. Eric it has inconsistent spacing and slats which are probably too wide ( although making the slats narrow would probably cause a different set of problems) and it is just kind of messy. I do think I could do a little better if I was to try again but then I don't know for certain.
  9. I got the handrailing done. It didn't turn out as well as I would have liked but it is what it is. On to the bow.
  10. I based the length of these trusses on a drawing in Alan Bates book This drawing was in the first few pages of the book but I can't say what page or figure number as i don't have it with me right now. That is to say no real reason other than his drawing ( i may shorten the middle one a bit) . I built a jig from which I'm building the boiler deck handrail so i'm wanting to complete it and a few other things before i go back to the chains.
  11. I finished the chain trusses but i think i'll wait to install the chains themselves until some other things are completed. I may shorten the center truss but i'm going to wait to make that decision.
  12. I'm making the caps for stern hog chain trusses out of brass. I'll have to shorten these trusses when I decide how tall I want them.
  13. I got the roof trim put on the Texas cabin. Sawing and forming these pieces was tedious.
  14. I've continued to work on the ships railings and am starting to make her bell.
  15. I finished up the Texas roof staircase and started on the deck for the pilothouse.
  16. I got the trim on the roof and fastened the roof to the pilothouse and the pilothouse to the Texas cabin. I also started the staircase to the Texas deck.
  17. I installed the flue on the stove and painted it. Got the lazy bench made and the bridle so the pilot house is taking shape. I'll need to figure out a speaking tube and run the flue through the roof.
  18. I used acetate to simulate the glazing and styrene for the mullions . I was thinking I might not do anymore of the side glass as it restricts the view of the interior. Certainly open to suggestions on this matter. I started turning the potbelly stove and I'm thinking I'll do the bench , bridle, and speaking tube.
