  1. Progress update - mast and tops are finished and ready to be mounted into the hull. Just finishing off the hull, water buckets, rings and dead eyes being added first.
  2. Fore, main and mizzen masts are done now I’m rigging as much as I can before heading back to the hull to finish some small bits it will then be ready for the masts.
  3. Making headway with the masts just the fore mast and bow sprit to go. People have different ways to do the masts. I prefer to build as much as possible before putting them in place on the ship. The plans hint at putting the masts in first the rigging and then the cross trees, not my preferred way to do it, we’ll see what’s best in the end.
  4. Instructions are not as good and lots of things are left to the modeler. Some annoying things like the rigging thread not having any sizes on the spools but otherwise not too shabby a kit. Another thing is this kit is of course considerably cheaper than the Caldercraft one. Definitely need some experience with building model boats to get this done.
  5. Have done one side with the netting and it’s a real pain in the **** to get right, probably the worse job yet.
  6. Hi Don, The plans are printed on both sides of a sheet so you get four sheets with eight plans if that makes sense. You also get the instruction book and I downloaded the full instructions in English too, although be aware they refer to the kit with all brass moldings and don’t show the new etched ply version which is the one I’m building.
  7. Guns in on the starboard side and half the lids are finished. Just need to tie off the lids ropes and then it’s over to the port side to do it all again…
  8. Getting on with the guns and lids etc but I have run out of eye pins and the instructions regards mounting the lids are appalling. Anyway I have managed to sort it out by using the supplied brass wire between the eye pins and then mounting the lids on this. Now waiting for additional eyes just hope they are the right sizes.
  9. Coming along nicely, this kit was my second and it makes a great model when done. My finished one is on here somewhere. Now onto a 1/78 HMS Victory a whole different beast. Good luck with the Bounty.
  10. Latest update. Made the gun port lids and window shutters next step will be to mount them along with the cannons which I have started painting. Have put the stern galleries on didn’t want to do it earlier as the instructions state to avoid damage. Bow is coming along nicely.
  11. Started to get back into the project now and have just finished coppering on side of the hull. As expected it was tedious and time consuming. I am defiantly going to add a bead along the hull over the edge of the plating to really finish it off. Anyway here she is so far.
  12. Gun port frames painted, couldn’t find the plastic that was supposed to be included in the kit for the two windows so had to improvise with some from the packaging.
