    Hi My name is Brian Davey I am 75 years old. My father Hampton Davey was first officer on the Brockley Combe, the Captain was Mr Ernest Greenway. As a boy I went on the ship the Castle Combe on my school holidays to stay with my father, as the family where based on the Wirral (south of Liverpool) and the ship was based in Bristol. The Castle Combe was a Dutch coaster previously named the Meteor, which my father collected a week after the sinking of the Brockley. My father was on the ship when she floundered on the Minkies and you can clearly see where the lifeboats had been launched. I have two large original black and white photo of the ship on the rocks, of which you can see at that time she had 2 masts, and it clearly shows the stern super structure, which differs from your model. The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
