  1. I always use wood glue. Tightbond brand. It dries quick and is very strong. CA glue will just get crystallised after awhile and break apart. Use PVA 50:50 with water to glue the knots on my rigging too.
  2. Im pretty sure the deck is supposed to be on a slant. As the decks on the original ship's sort of followed the lines of the hull.
  3. Great start!! Looks like a beautiful kit!. Makes me want to get my old Endeavour out and contine with that!!!
  4. Love it already. Makes me think about the time I built the AL Mississippi padddlewheel. Great memories. Looks like you are off to a great start
  5. My very first attempt at the crowsfeet ended in disaster. So i ripped it down and started again. Im happy with this one so it can stay.
  6. Here we are still plodding along. This time the shourds have been started and ratlines being done on the foremast port side.
  7. Lining gunports can be very tedious. Looks like a brilliant job. Nice work. The paint job has come out superb.
  8. I have this kit too. Haven't started yet. Yours looks real nice. Gun ports line up very well and also a top paint job.
  9. Homer thank you very much. Even with my build I find it hard to put up posts that are interesting. Like for example, The masts and rigging stage im doing at the moment is not the most interesting aspect. But also trying to keep viewers entertained. Hardest part of a build log. I hope you enjoy your build. Its a very nice hull to work. Cheers Scott
  10. Well slowly but still going. Painted fore mast up Continuing with the main mast construction. Not a big update but little bits I can do every now and then.
  11. Looks extremely neat and well done. Im also building here but unfortunately I will not reach this standard of craftsmanship. I'm rigging blocks etc. I don't have a rope walk but will try to replicate what you have done . Nice work
  12. Hello there. Doing good. The first question is 99.9% of the time planking will start at the gunwales and work down towards the keel. Stealers and drop planks will be required i think by the looks of your bluff bow. I would start adding them earlier on the planking so by the time you work your way down you won't get any kick outs and kinks. Have a look in the section planking and framing a ships hull on this site, should give you a better idea. Keep up the good work.
  13. That's a long break between. I like hows its turned out. Looks really neat. Rigging stage coming up soon by the looks of it. Good job.
  14. Made a start on the foremast. At the stage I have to add the side boards and bend the front. So far so good
  15. The kit supplied rope is very nice to use, Don't need lots of wax to beat the fluffies down. But nowhere near as good as chucks. It will be suffice for my needs.
  16. Well I have to say I'm jealous because I really want this kit. She's a beautiful ship. Maybe once im done with my Endeavour I hope. Your build looks great. Very neat and sharp. Good paint job on the windows and all. Nice job.
  17. First rigging started. It's been a while since I rigged anything. Bowsprit pin rack completed. gammoning ropes in and rigged up.
  18. I removed all of the nails. I never leave any nails. I need the glue has dried nails are no longer needed sorry for the late reply.
  19. Moving on from chain plates I have made a start on the bowsprit The various cleats and bee are in position. The jack staff complete with block attached The ship at a glance of progress. Happy with the outcome so far.
