    Thanks Smarra, i ended up going with the Pontos set, I've used PE on aircraft before and loved it. I'll check out the build logs. Appreciate the reply Steve

    Hi Guys First post, great forum! Have been building a lot of aircraft, but decided to give the ships a go, Bismarck was always one to be done and purchased the Trumpeter Kit. I have been looking at the upgrade options, MK1 or Pontos and different variants of each. The "all out" upgrades are up there in $$'s, but I'm after suggestions on which way to go and which brand to start with? It'll be a definite for the timber decking, brass propeller's and hand railings. Without going crazy on $$'s, which ones would be best for that nice detail without going overboard? Thanks in advance. Steve

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
