  1. Thank you for your comments and the likes received, always much appreciated. The waterway has been made and the first planks have found their place on the deck. As Mark already mentioned in his build log, this is a bit tricky because they are twisted and have changing angles. Make decorative strips, measure the height and mark them with the help of tape. Thank you for your visit and see you soon.
  2. Hello Chuck @Chuck, thank you for your comment, much appreciated. I am following your construction of the Speedwell with great interest, as I plan to start it after Le Rochefort and La Palme. I bought the books almost two years ago and have already enlarged the plans to 1:36. @giampieroricciRicci, thank you too for your comment, it is always a pleasure when you stop by my blog, see you in October in Evina.
  3. Good morning Mark @No Idea, thank you. Yes, the side pieces are awful. The first time I tried Adrian's method, but I failed. Then I remembered your report and tried this, it was much better, but still not satisfactory. Somehow I can't draw well enough to get the same effect. So I went back to the method I tried with the small side pieces on La Palm. First cut out the curved shape and then the side profile. It worked very well.
  4. Good evening, last week I was busy with the door hinges of the pump house. They're okay for my first hinge. Furthermore, today I sanded the hull and filed the water channel into the frames.
  5. Hello everyone, I've been back on my little harbor yacht for almost 14 days. The plan is to work on Le Rochefort until August. I have completed all of the deck beams and will now install and adjust them piece by piece. At the moment I'm busy with the metal work on the pump house and the pumps themselves and will show another update soon.
  6. Hello Mark fantastic job, I see you have made very good preparations for the planking. This work still exists for me and I have the greatest respect, it won't be too long until then so I'll take a close look at everything. Greetings Tobias
  7. Hello Adrian, I read today in the French forum that you are there in Evian. I'm happy to see your models in person.
  8. Hi Mark, great presentation and explanation of the construction of the windlass. The result speaks for itself. How exactly did you get the round holes square?
  9. Thank you for your interest and the likes received, always much appreciated. Well there is just a small update on the starboard side. The lower whale has been fitted, the bulb/bottle has been provisionally fixed in its future position and the bow area has been fitted with the decorative timbers. At the same time, I started on the port side
  10. Hello Mark, happy new year. I had some catching up to do. It all looks so perfect, I hope mine will only be half as good. I can only agree with you, planing the floorboards is the best option.
  11. Hello everyone, thank you very much for your likes and comments, much appreciated. Now a little update, a total of 1767 nails have been placed so far and there are still a few more to come.
  12. A little update at the end of the year, starting with the nailing. Here I use two thicknesses 0.6mm for the whales and 0.4mm for the planks. I make the square wire myself using a jeweller's die. Happy new year everyone
  13. Hello everyone, Le Rochefort has gone into the winter break and I have turned my attention back to La Palme. I was not satisfied with the stern superstructure so it had to be redone, too many small mistakes that added up to too much. I also started with the planks on the starboard side.
  14. Hello Brain, thank you. There were 7 small elements in total, to be able to drill them accurately I glued 3 pieces and 4 pieces together and then finished the edges with a file.
  15. Hello Mark, thank you. You are absolutely right, it was a very time-consuming job, especially constantly taking beams out and back in and out again and so on. Thank you Durex for your interest and your comment. Thanks to everyone else for your likes. A few more pictures of the finished interior after I treated it with Clou sanding primer.
  16. Hello everyone, after a tip from Gerard Delacroix, Le Rochefort did not have eyelets to remove the planks but holes to engage them, so this had to be changed. In the next step, I made and fitted all the deck beams and the beam walkways. The rear bulkhead fitted. There is still some work to be done on the deck beams, which will happen in the next few days. For this work I would have liked to have Le Rochefort in 1:24 scale 😂.
  17. Hi all, thanks for your interest and likes, much appreciated. Over the last few days I have been able to get a bit further with the interior. Making the front bulkhead, the hold floor and the front false floor. According to the monograph, the middle 4 (2) rows are not nailed to be able to remove them to access the limber boards underneath. Here I have provided them with small ring eyelets, I hope this is correct, as I could not find anything in the monograph.
  18. Hi Mark, another fantastic job. Yes those little dragonflies are worth their weight in gold, I know them from my best friend, he is an electrician and used them to install the sockets in the water when I was remodelling my house.
  19. Hello everyone, another update on Le Rochefort. After the small break in the summer, I'm more drawn to the workshop again in the evenings. I have started with the cross beams for the cargo area and the nails for the interior floorboards. I'm still waiting for my new tools to finish the rest of the nails.
  20. Another section has been completed, the rear timbers have been completed. I'm not 100% satisfied with the result, there are still a few corrections to be made and I hope that the result will be better, otherwise I'll have to build it again.
  21. Thank you Mark. You say it took a lot of time, plus the 1:36 scale makes it very tight.
