  1. I've been enjoying making the San Juan by OcCre . Finishing up the hull and deck furniture and about to embark on the rigging and masts. Any and all comments are welcome. Thanks

  2. Great seeing your progress ! The contrast you are setting up with the different woods is very appealing. I really appreciate the subtle custom changes you are making to the original design. Very nice work !
  3. This looks great ! Clean and smooth job. I was wondering if you used yellow glue for the second planking or another type ? I'm building the OcCre San Juan and the directions call for using contact cement for the second lay of planking. I don't relish working with that type of glue. Thanks Hake
  4. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress you've made.Your work looks excellent so far... The Niagara is in a box and on my shop shelf at the moment waiting for me to work up the courage to begin. I'm currently building the San Juan Feluca and will probably need another one under my belt before I tackle the Niagara. I am in Los Angeles ( SFV) as well. All the best
  5. The last photo of your project really shows off the all the attention to detail and make a beautiful presentation in your home ! Congratulations
  6. Sweet ! That sapele looks beautiful... no paint ( I hope ?) I received the San Juan Felluca by OcCre last night in the mail ! I'm enjoying watching you make Le Martegaou as it should be made .
  7. Looks great ! I remember that you are going to double hull. What type of wood will you choose for the second layer ?
  8. Looks great ! I completely missed the deck edging on my build ! Looking forward to how this one turns out .
    • Well I've made it a bit farther than I expected frankly. But it's been fun, a nice break from making ceramic pottery on the wheel which has been my hobby focus for several years. Model boat building is much cleaner and less dust ! I've been working on the Martegaou as best as I've been able for a few weeks. The rigging plans are really hard to decipher. Has anyone else had the same experience with Billings plans ?
    • I am pleased to find that my skills on a sewing machine aren't so bad ! I'll post more pics tonight when I get back to the shop.
    • Btw, does this model have a mast rake angle ? Anyone know ? I haven't set the mast as of yet.
    • Anyone want to recommend a model that might be a good sequel to this boat ? A beginning  intermediate-intermediate ? LOL.

  9. So glad you are back in the game. I look forward to seeing how the boat progresses in your hands.
  10. Thank you for taking the time to explain one of the vagaries of the plan. It still feels very opaque and I look forward to my next model that will have more detailed plans better suited for a novice builder. You have been so helpful. i really appreciate it.
  11. Hi, I'm so new to this forum I wonder if I should not have posted my photos on your page 😳. My build of the same boat is moving along to the sails and rigging. I thought I'd ask you a question about the plans. When doing the rigging, the plans are defined with a circle and a number inside the circle. I have not been able to identify why the number is placed in that specific place and what the number is in reference to ? It feels as though I'm missing a page of instructions. Any ideas ? Thank you
