  1. Hello Tim! Sorry for the two month delay in response, I didn’t see you had commented until now. I’m using titebond II for the majority, and modeling super glue for small pieces that can’t easily be held down with a clamp or nails. also I thought a bit about what paint I wanted to use, but since this is my first model I decided to play it safe and I ordered the occur paint that the model kit recommended for the build. We’ll see if I stick with it as I come closer to painting more of the ship! have you started on your model yet?
  2. Small update! Sanded my hull and added some filler to smooth out the weird spots. In general preparing for the next layer of hull planking, I’m excited to try and nail this outer layer. Starting to kind of look like a ship!
  3. Its been really cool seeing the ship really take its shape with planking on the hull though. I feel like this is the major step in the building process, Ill be curious to see what stage of the build I find the most difficult looking back. Does anyone have any suggestions for finding some dogs at 1:70 scale? Id love to have a few in the dog kennels up on deck when the model is completed. Im not sure if im just not using the correct words in my google search or if im just asking for something that doesnt exist! Any help would be appreciated on that (or even some men at 1:70 scale) Still not sure how "accurate" of a build Im going to do for this build or if im just going to keep it simple since its my first kit. I think ill flesh that out more once I start work on the deck fixtures! Thanks everyone
  4. Hello! I can see why a ship kit build can take someone so long! Time flys It’s been about a month since my first post and I’d like to think I’ve made some good progress. Again this is my first kit I’ve done, so I know it’s not perfect! I’d like to think I’m doing pretty ok so far though. Almost done planking the first layer of the hull, Let me know if there is anything that jumps out at you as a red flag! Some of the pictures sure make it look worse than irl.
  5. Hello! By the insane chance of stars aligning my endurance model kit arrived at my doorstep last night and this morning I woke up to news of the REAL Endurance wreck being discovered! That must give me some kind of goodluck right? This will be my second attempt at a model ship, I purchased a kit for 20$ at an estate sale for a ship called the Dallas a while back. When I tried to build it all the planking strips were so brittle and old I ended up realizing I’d be better off starting with a newer fresher kit as my first real try. recently at work we had some extra scraps so I made myself a quick modeling table, I hope I don’t grow out of it too quickly and I’m excited to start!
