  1. Sorry, when I was 7 my father started to build the yacht.
  2. Hi All, Just a short note to tell you about myself. Got interested in sailing early in my life racing dinghies in Zimbabwe. At the age of 7 my father, being the Irishman that he is, decided to build a 44ft sea going yacht in a land-locked country in the middle of a war. The yacht ended up in South Africa and was our home for most of my school years. We did a lot of short trips to various destinations until my parents went on pension. They raised anchor and promptly sailed around the the world for the following 9 years. Well as you can imagine I fell in love with yachts and ships but the only ones I can afford to build are the models. I have tried a few here and there but am now taking the venture seriously. I have started build on the Scottish Maid Aberdeen, scale 1:50, and enjoying it tremendously. Enough about me, thanks for accepting my application and hope to have meaningful chats on the forums. 3. Got to the stage of the build and they are telling me to "sandpaper, polish and varnish the whole assembly". Can someone give me an idea on what polish and varnish I can use for this stage. First time builder and trying to get the Scottish Maid to look good. Thanks.
