  1. Hank, FYI, there’s a new Arleigh Burke out from ILoveKits (Trumpeter?) in a 1:200 scale that’s available from Squadron - the reviews I’ve seen are good and I’ve got one on order. The scale is large enough to allow much easier detailing than the others scaled at 1:350, although the case would have to be larger.

I have a Byrne’s saw and couldn’t live without it, I really hope that they can continue. Back in the summer, they closed their site to orders for everything except their new disk sander, so I ordered one and it was delivered the same week Jim passed. It’s a real jewel! Jim’s tools are works of art - he will be missed.

Don, this project was commissioned by the Missouri Civil War Museum, located on Jefferson Barracks (now a veterans' cemetery) in St. Louis. To be honest, there have been some communication problems between us and the Museum's director, so we're uncertain if and when the installation will be done. Hopefully it will come to pass, and if so, I'll be posting some pictures of the dedication/installation ceremony. Thanks for asking.

    Tim,

Thanks, I hope you get your communications issues resolved - I am a little over 500 miles from St Louis and will make a special trip there just to see it in person.

  3. Glen,

Your work is just beautiful, well done!

Your trip to Africa also looks like a lot of fun.  Visiting Africa was never on my bucket list, but my Son and his Wife spent several years in Zambia with the Peace Corps, so naturally, we had to go. We spent almost a month in and around Livingstone and also went on a Safari- the wildlife was incredible! Highly recommended. Here’ one of my favorite pics…………

Great build of a seldom modeled but deserving ship Don. You have done wonders with an otherwise mediocre model.

Is there any chance that you could use this model as a base for the Hughes 300 helicopter? https://www.scalemates.com/kits/italeri-857-oh-13s-sioux--128176

It would take some bashing but with some work it might do.

Lou, I took your suggestion about using the OH-13 Sioux as a replacement for the kit helicopter after seeing someone who did it on, I think, Facebook. While not at all historically accurate, I think it looks nice and really completes the model.

    Thanks,

    Don

  5. Thanks, JJ, I appreciate it! I’ve been following your build and it’s really the next level, your joinery is so precise, something I haven’t quite mastered yet. Yes, am looking for a case and mounting hardware - suggestions welcome.

My son, his wife,  and my two new grand babies live in Portland and we’ll be there in a couple of weeks. We’re considering moving out there to be close, and Bend is one of the places we’ve been looking at.

    Thanks again,

    Don
