  1. Hi David, You have built a real masterpiece, something to be proud of for sure. I have sent you a message and would appreciate your advice on this matter. Eric
  2. Hi Patrick, Happy New Year. I have been following your build and it looks like your boat is looking great. Eric
  3. After a long day and a sleepless night I believe that I have resolved my issue of squaring up the hull. I am now happily on my way to an enjoyable build. Thanks EinsteinTaylor for the thought but I should be okay now. Eric
  4. Patrick and Muggebigge, thanks for checking my log. I apologize for I should have been more explicit and updated my log to explain what has taken place. I could not get the stern facia to fit properly and then I discovered that a couple of the bulkheads were not fitted correctly. They were set at a different height then the others. Consequently, the upper decks would be slightly off and the gunport patterns were slightly off. My mistakes were causing a snowball effect that was becoming too frustrating to deal with. The hull might have been fixable but it would always bother me. So I made the executive decision to purchase new hull parts and do it again. It took 2 ½ months to get the parts from Jokita. This time I am asking for advice on how to square up the bulkheads for none of the measurements on the plans for the bulkheads match the actual model. For example the keel is 8mm shorter than the plans and the bulkhead height from the bottom of the keel to the top of the bulkheads is less than the plans. If you set bulkhead #1 in place it sits slightly higher than the keel. Is this correct? When I lay a straight piece of material between bulkheads #5 and #1, bulkheads 2, 3 and 4 are all short and have to be raised. I am assuming that the height of bulkheads 1 and 5 are correct. I am also assuming that the upper gundeck only sits on the bulkheads not he keel. I can’t figure out an accurate reference point to square the parts of the hull. Not sure what I am missing or not understanding. That’s why I am now asking for some advice. Eric
  5. I would like to request some help from other jotika victory builders. I received my new hull parts and I am trying to square up the keel, bulkheads and middle gun deck. None of the measurements off the plans seem to fit, for example the keel is 8mm short and if you measure from the bottom of the keel to the top of bulkhead #1 then the bowsprit hole does not line up. I feel silly asking but can someone tell me how they were able to square their model up? Eric
  6. David thanks very much for your input and especially the pictures, they really help alot. I will properly take you up on the picture offer in the future for there are times when a picture is worth a thousand words. Eric
  7. Thanks for the quick reply and help Patrick. Like you I like the ship but it is a tough one to learn on. I am only half a club member - so far I have only broken the one side!! Eric
  8. Hi David, looks like you are doing a beautiful job on the rigging. I am having an issue with the stern and is it possible for you to have a quick look at my log where the issue is better explained. Thanks, Eric
  9. Hi Patrick, cannons are looking pretty nice. Could I please talk you into having a quick look at my log, I am having an issue with the stern which is better explained there. Thanks, Eric
  10. I don't know how everyone else has done it but the stern has me stumped. I have lined up the side galleries (373) with the two slots on the gunport pattern (270 like the manual says to do) and I set up the stern facia pattern (374) so that it appears to sit properly against the stern. As in the pictures the problem is that I cannot get the stern counter pattern (371) to fit. When the stern counter pattern 371 sits up against the stern facia the bottom edge of the stern counter pattern does not sit flush with the bottom edge of the 7th quarter gallery pattern 220. If I set the stern counter pattern so that it sits flush with the bottom edge of the 7th quarter gallery pattern 220, I have a gap between the stern facia and the stern counter as in the picture and yet others seem to get a tight fit. Any suggetions to what I have done wrong and how to correcd this issue.
  11. David, Patrick, Muggebigge, Grant and Kevin; thanks all for taking the time to look at my log and for the encouragement. The first planking has been a real challenge and I have definately done a lot of sanding and filling and I think I have it pretty close now. Eric
  12. Hi Muggebigge, thanks for looking at my build and offering some advice. Yes I did put in filler blocks at the bow. I now have finished the first planking and unfortunately I made a few mistakes and I now have lots of sanding to do. Eric
  13. Thanks for the compliment Lawrence. I definitrly started off on the wrong foot with the planking. I had to ripe off some planks and redo them. However, I am slowly getting the hang of it. Not sure yet on how I want to personalize my build.
  14. I have been busy trying to plank the hull. For me learning how to plank on this hull has not been easy. Hopefully I will finish the first planking this week.
