    Thanks to all the people who have replied to my dilemma with encouragement and advise. You have given me many ideas so I'll continue with more research and hopefully pick up a little knowledge about photography along the way. Once again thank you

    I haven't done any photography for many years and have now decided to purchase a digital camera and would like to know is it necessary to buy a SLR or will any digital camera do the trick. Do you need to have a Macro setup to get close up shots. I would greatly appreciate any info in this regard

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
