  1. Wow, these are incredibly interesting. The drawing even has the trailboard (or the knee) lightly shown. Well, it looks like I didn't need to adjust the knightheads -- they were closer to where they're supposed to be than my moving them per the Campbell drawings. Sigh, really too late to do anything about it. Thank you for the pics and the drawing -- there is a wealth of information here! I'm thoroughly enjoying this log.
  2. Incredible, Richard. Quick question -- you mention above that the knightheads do not align with the rabbet or stem as shown on the Campbell plans. Alignment is pretty much impossible to be seen at the actual ship (unless you're really tall) because of the canopy enclosure. From your pictures, the knightheads appear to be a little aft of the stem rabbet line. Just curious. I had modified my current build of the Sergal kit (I'm really kit-bashing extensively) and shifted the knightheads forward in line with the stem rabbet. A little late for me to adjust them, though, since ply bulwarks and more-to-scale planking are in place. Thanks.
  3. Tim -- To your question about a graphic of the scroll work: the Campbell plans have one, I think it is at 1/4" scale (different from the 3/32" scale of the main parts of the ship). But it's flat and shows the scroll work well. It is on either the Rigging or the Sail plan. I know the Sergal "photo etch" for the transom scroll work -- for that matter, the bow name plate and trail/head board as well -- is not very good. If you decide to go another route than engraving, there is a company, HiSModel (https://www.hismodel.com) that offers a very nice photoetch set of the bow and transom scroll work for the Billings kit, but I think will work on the Sergal kit -- not that different in scale. I bought it -- not very expensive -- It is a significant improvement over the Sergal "photo etch" and is very close to the actual ship. I've got a 40+ year old Billings kit and the Sergal kit, and will tackle probably the Sergal kit after wrapping up Syren (now in masting and rigging) although I'm pulled toward Chuck's Winchelsea. Anyway -- FYI. Allen
  4. Jack -- just happened to pick up the build on the England -- great job -- but my comment is on your picture of a Corgi -- I've seen it on several other build logs and always wanted to ask. I know this is WAY off topic -- do you have a Corgi? I've had three, lost the last one last November and still grieving over him. I've developed OCD -- Obsessive Corgi Disorder -- having had the three, so just curious as to yours. Thanks. Allen
