I was not happy with the carving of the first eagle, so I carved another one from Boxwood.
I cut out the shape of the eagle first, then started the carving.
I took Antony`s advice in putting a light stain on the carving to bring out the detail.
I used French polish and linseed oil.
Carving with the stain on.
Eagle fitted to the stern of the ship.

I don`t normally paint my models, but as these ships were colourful, I decided to give it a bit of colour.

I was going to use sycamore for the deck planking, but decided to use maple instead.
The size of the deck planking is 4x1mm and I used my plank bender to curve the planks.

Fitting jelutung between the bulkheads.
Bending 4x1mm cherry over a home made plank bender.
The planks are placed in cold water for about 10 minutes, then taken out of the water and then placed over the hot plank bender and worked to the shape you require.
Use the water as frequently as required.

Port and Starboard Dolphins fitted.

I`m not certain if the carving of the Eagle is good enough.
I might take this one off, and re-carve another one.

mij reacted to Remcohe in what is the ideal modelling table?
Be sure to add plenty drawers, big ones for drawings, shallow ones for tools. If space isn't an issue make more that you think you'll need and you'll probably end up with just enough
And check the thread with all the members's workshops, you catch some ideas there too.

Hello dear friends,
Thank you all very much for your kind words a comments, your support means a lot for me and I appreciate it. I am really pleased you like my work.
Thank you for these beautiful pics, dear Dražen. I know Mile Bijelić models and admire his artistry a lot. I have already downloaded all pics of his Royal Caroline and HMS Prince into my computer for inspiration. I am looking forward to his new project of RC, so if possible, please, send me some pics here: doris.obrucova@seznam.cz

I am going to make other members and place them on the board, at this scale it is possible to create better details and paintings of faces and clothes.
Yesterday I finished eight tiny pieces of satyr´s heads - these are scuppers for draining the main deck:
Enjoy the pics and have a great time.
Kind regards
Doris
