  1. Right this is my first time at doing a build log and hopefully all will go well I have decided to try my hand at making the Titanic as I have a very keen interest in the real Titanic and is a bit different to the Mississippi Paddle Steamer I have almost completed, this will be the third ship I have built so hopefully I will have enough skill to complete quite a complex model. The kit will be completed as per the instructions with no modifications on my part, having read a bit on models of the Titanic I believe the finished shape of the hull may be slightly out but I am not too bother
  2. Hello Folks. I am hoping to be in the proper place for this kit build. Don't wish to be booted out. This is my first kit after 40 years of work, work, work. Now it's time to enjoy my passion. Please be delicate, I'm not an ol' salt just yet. I know, not a pretty photo or my layout but I'll get the hang of this. Thanks all!!
  3. And Now for Something Completely Different - Arno XI Ferrari Hydroplane, 1:8 scale, by Amati I now have three tall ship models in my house, a Spanish Galleon built by my grandfather in 1933, a MS Flying Fish that I built in 1969, and my recently-completed US Brig Syren. One can only have so many big plexiglass cases in one's house before one's wife starts to object, so for my next build I decided on something easier to dust, an Arno Ferrari hydroplane. Besides, with a glossy red cowling, polished mahogany planking, and chrome exhaust, wheel, and rudder, who can complain? I bo
  4. I have been avidly reading everything on the site and decided to join the fun. Working on a galiot and got as far as the first hull plank before a snag. Luckily, help was right there - thank you, Thanasis and Jean-Pierre ! Progress up to now -
  5. The Bluenose was my first ship model. It has been on the shelf a couple years but never had a proper stand. While shopping for some blanks for turning pens on the lathe I found some cuttings from the Bluenose II restoration. These are the scraps cut off the new beams used in the Bluenose II. They weren't part of the ship but are from the same beams that are now in her. I took three of the blanks 3/4" x 3/4" x 5" and made this stand. I turned round sections on one of the blanks, then cut it in half to make the two posts. I then rounded some corners and glued the three blanks together
