  1. Good Morning kids! I just wanted to post a couple of photos of some of the items that I have made to assist with my first build. They really are nothing fancy, their focus is on cheap and cheerful. I thought this might help for those of you looking for ideas on how to save some money with this already expensive project. If you have any suggestions, questions or comments please let me know and I will do my best to respond. The photos below are the following. A steam tube, guillotine for cutting specific angles and lengths, an adjustable keel rest and a lockable, adjustable keel clamp(which I absolutely love). I have also included a photo of the desk I made specifically to build this vessel. please excuse the strange colour. I entered into a rather weird negotiation with my girlfriend and somehow ended up agreeing to paint this desk "teal" in exchange for the permission to build it.
  2. I found this website during browsing for another thing. It has a lot of good info but also ideas of what we builder can built ourselves to help us in the workshop and having some diy tools. Specially lathe setup with a power drill seems interesting.

  6. Well, I'll be building this one up, for I have to go through the paheses as I build this one (still rather recent) The plank which supports is approximately 1 meter x 20 cm x 2.5 cm. The others are 1.8 cm thick. It's all pine wood. Took some of the thinner planks and made a base for the drill. Drilled/sawed a hole the size of the forward part of the drill body which normally would hold the handle. Cut a groove in the plank from the top to the top of the hole so It can clamp the drill. The images show it better than I can explain in my poor English .. After that I took a router and made a groove all over the length, and twoo lesser ones on the side of that one which I 'll use for alluminium strips. The use of those will become apparent. Some chisseling to be done .. and fitting the strips ...
