  1. here a new build I'm going to be doing this is a plastic model which I have done lots of these I've had to put my other ones aside right now cant wait to get stared
  2. Hi all. Here's the start of my latest Card model - HMS Hood, at the time of her short-lived battle with Bismarck. She was sunk on 23rd of May 1941. Information on Hood can be found on Wikipedia HERE. The kit is from Halinski in Poland, a kit manufacturer that I've had some experience with (see "IJN Amatsukaze" in my signature). I had a lot of fun with that kit and found every aspect of it from design, printing and even the instructions to be excellent. A bonus in this kit is that there is a separate sheet of instructions in English, so I won't be needing Google Translate this time.
  3. Having finished my Prince of Wales (Tamiya 1:350) I am now starting a new project. In the end of my previous build log Canute recommended Trumpeters 1:350 Hood. Thanks Canute. I have now bought that kit from my local supplier. The kit looks very nice. I think this is the first MSW build log of a Trumpeter Hood 1:350. As you can see on the box it is a long ship (75 cm) which is about 10 cm longer than Prince of Wales, i.e. 35 m in real life. Commissioned in 1920, as the last battle cruiser for the Royal Navy, the profile looks differently compared to other large WW2 ships. The mighty Hood as sh
  4. Hello all, I am taking a bit of a gamble and going to attempt the Hachette partworks model of HMS Hood. I say a gamble because this was first published four years ago and I will be purchasing editions of the magazine from eBay, Gumtree and other assorted online resources. I think locating and buying the editions will be as much of a challenge as building the ship itself! I have today managed to buy issues 1-7 and 26-32 from a supplier on eBay for £3 each. I also have a beady eye on listings from 8-19 which are on a bidding basis ending tonight. Watch this space! Of course if any of you
  5. Hello all, I have been working on my Mikasa and today I worked on the display. I am going to do the torpedo nets AFTER it's in the case. It's too fragile to move around. In the meantime.... I thought I'd start a log on my next project which I recently started. I did some work on my HMS Hood. As per the Mikasa, I am NOT going to paint the PE. AND, I'm going to paint the ship in rainbow colors! Just kidding. But I am going to seriously deviate from your typical warship. It's going to be mostly black, except for the hull and the PE, which will be brass. When I was young, I fel
