  1. So, I am posting this log as a result of seeing the build log of DocBlake's Fair American in which he posted a reference showing this kit in full rig done by Mike Lonnecker - http://www.thenrg.org/resources/59-3%20NRJ%20%20Building%20Fair%20American%201789.pdf My build was about 90% complete until I saw his model and now I want to fully rig mine as well. So I guess I am back to around 60 - 70% complete. I have really enjoyed building this kit, it was my first POF attempt and I not only had fun but I learned a lot about POF building and am pretty confident that I could apply the same technique
  2. Some years ago, when the kit first came out, I bought one from Bob Hunt (Lauckstreet). Unfortunately, that was well before I had ever heard of MSW and also well before I was aware of the TFFM books by David Antscherl. The kit appeared to provide an opportunity for someone like me without any power tools to build a fully framed model, without spending the rest of my life trying to cut all the framing by hand. While the kit had some shortcomings and problems (e.g. the provided building jig was more trouble than help), it did, in fact, allow me to build a boxwood fully framed model of a Swan clas
  3. Hello all - I have begun to build the Patrick Henry kit and will be updating this build log as I go along. The Patrick Henry is a hypothetical Armed Virginia Sloop (AVS) name after a well know son from Virginia. My initial thoughts on this kit start and end with the words quality. While there are multiple options for the frame wood, I selected the cherry wood option. The cherry billets included in this kit are outstanding as is all of the wood planks. All of the billets are CNC milled instead of laser cut and as a result do not have any laser burn (yah!) and the cuts are straight instead
  4. Hi What to say about this high end kit..... They do not come any better or then again, more expencive. Building this kit makes one wonder why scratch has not been an option. Then again without building this kit, scratch would not have been an option for me........just saying Rather than trying to rebuild my buildlog trying to recooperate any disscussions on the way I will repost as many pictures as I can and hopfully questions will follow bringing this log along with others of the same kit to life. Here we go.
  5. BUILDING THE LAUCK STREET SHIPYARD FAIR AMERICAN I have no commercial interest in and no financial gain from writing this building-log / review, I’m only a very happy customer //Erik Nyren Reposting this buildinglog ended up somwhere between a review and a log so I leave it up to our admins to move it if necessary Unfortunally this kit is no longer available however this buildinglog does give an idea of how to build a scratch model of the ship. Perhaps it can be of help to members building the Mod
