  1. This will be the beginning of my build log for the 1:700 Flyhawk German Battleship Scharnhorst, 1940, full hull version. This version of the kit comes with two large photo etch sheets and brass gun barrels, ship masts. The parts count is quite high and the details very tiny, finely molded. I'll be ordering a much finer, cleaner cutting set of sprue cutters before I undertake building the kit as I will surely break parts just trying to cut them from the sprue without an appropriate set of cutters. Pictured are the kit contents, the exception being the wood deck which I purchase
  2. After finishing my S.M.S Emden I decided to build for my next project the S.M.S Scharhorst scale 1/100 my decision is based on the interesting history of this ship and the in my eyes beautiful lines of her. The hull is purchased from M.Z Modellbau, (so that one is not scratch) the rest of the model i will make from scratch and some purchased parts, so it will be a combination of both. Will build her in the same way as how I build the Emden (administrators feel free to move this topic where you see need too) so I already started with the model will post some pictures
  3. OK I'm now getting so far out of my comfort zone I'm almost coming back in the other side. One of our local historic ships was the topsail schooner Enterrize sailing from Hobart. Recently I bought a copy of the plans issued by Modeller's Draught as reconstructed by Karl Marquardt and am now attempting to build the model as a POB construct, I do have the luxury of having a full size replica visiting our local harbour frequently so am collecting piles of photos for additional reference. First step was to scan the A2 sheet and then reduce the scale to 1:48 and then break up the scan in order to pr
  4. Decided to drag this model out of the closet at build it to try and break my model building blues. I became a bit distracted by other life events and modeling took a back seat. Am hoping this will rekindle a fire. For starters, here are a few pictures of what I am building. Will add a simple photo etch set and a wooden deck to give a little flavor. I started by building the anti aircraft guns and secondary guns. The parts are so small and detailed, it's hard to believe plastic can be molded in that fashion. Plastic models have come a long, long way since I was a kid. For the you
  5. Good morning to you all fine fellows, So, this is the new look of our forum. Well let's get back to work and start posting again. Just one question - is my original build log stored somewhere, or do I have to repost all the progress pictures?
