Part 1: Introduction of a new project: With my Triton cross section running to its completion, it is time to look out to a new cross section project. My eye fell on a former group project of our modeling club ( https://dedissel.weebly.com/ a cross section of a Lowestoft smack, based on drawings of the smack 'Master Hand'. One of the club members, Georges Verleene, an experienced ship carpenter (now retired), wrote for this project a very detailed monograph with lots of detailed drawings. The group project went on many years ago, but lucky for me Georges had still a copy of the handout left. 001.pdf
Greetings. The next build for the PHTS Shipyard has arrived. Attached hereto are photo's of the kit and contents. We will need to hold off on laying the keel for at least a short while, as the Shipyard Overseer has issued a management directive that states we must launch at least one of our current builds (either the Harriet Lane or the Ranger/ Detector) prior to beginning this one. Looks like we need to put in some overtime!!! The box cover Instructions and contents Laser cut pieces Looks like one broke - believe it is a part of the windlass. Will check into what it is supposed to be and decide how to handle. My junior apprentice showing the size of the 4 sheets of plans. Looking forward to starting this one!
I recently purchased a couple Midwest Products small boats to build until i'm more in the mood to build more on my tall ships. I bought the Muscongus Bay Lobster Smack and the Main Peapod and just finished the peapod. I mainly bought the Peapod to better acquaint myself with hull planking and it turned out pretty nice. I still need to build the lobster trap in the instructions but saving that for later and still deciding on a paint scheme. I posted a build progress video on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZqn-OxwAxM and adding some pictures here also...I hope you like it.
