That is looking real good, Martin.

On the homeward leg now.

What's up after this one? Amati Victory? ;)

Hello Jim,

Thanks for the kind words.  I am not sure what to do next, there is still the Batavia scratch build that is unfinished...

I see you are doing the Amati Victory.  I did not even know that there is a Victory from Amati.

Hope your project is going well, I will have a look soon!

 Greetings Martin

P.S.: I just had a search for the Amati Victory: It is a 1 :64 monster, even bigger than the Caldercraft version, but it is not (yet?) released.

Well it is tempting for me to be honest: Chris Watton has a very good reputation!

Martin

I've loved your work since San Felipe. This is just beautiful.

Thank you Jim. I liked your San Felipe , too !

Right now I am contemplating what to  do next. Should I continue with the Batavia scratch build project, or will this be too complicated ?

The Wasa is also a ship that appeals to me. Or should I do something completely new, like a radio controlled, swimming tug boat for example?

I still have a few months for a decision, I guess 😉

Hello Agamemnon-fans,

I have just finished some more steps towards the end. Now there are only a few things to do: Instal the rest of the yard braces, attach the small boats and make a stand. I also have not yet found an appropriate display case , not so easy for a model of that size...

Hello again,

Now I am almost finished. Only two things I have to do: Build a stand (I will make a similar stand to the one used during building, only with new timber.

The other remaining task is to organize (buy?) a display case. I tried to order one from a British company that is selling acrylic cases custom- made. Unfortunately they do not provide cases of the size of the Agamemnon😩

If one of you has a suggestion for me, you are welcome!!P1100343.JPG.a58702abe3aa1b24a87124182d2db9a1.JPG

Hi Martin.

A phantastic model. What a highlight for each livingroom. I made a display case out of special wood strips you can buy for cases. They fit for 4 mm glass. I painted them black. But you can also give them some varnish. Then just buy the 5 peaces of glass and stick it together with some transparent silicone. Leave the top and maybe the front glass without silicone, so you can open it, if necessary.

It worked well. Here is a photo of the display case.

Thank you Matthias for your suggestion. Your case looks really good. Especially the bottom part.  The problem of the Agamemnon is the size; 130x50x100cms. I hope this is not causing any problems...

Hello Henrik,

Thank you for the nice words. I am still not sure what to do next. This is my fifth historic ship model . Perhaps I will try something completely different, for example a radio controlled boat, a tug-boat perhaps like the Imara.

The Amati Victory would be interesting, too, but they have not yet made it available - unfortunately.

By the way, I have just watched a Swedish movie (Let the right one in). This movie really impressed me, reminded me of my youth/childhood...

Happy modelling Henrik.

Greetings from Germany,

Martin

Hello,

Some time has passed. It took me a long time to find someone, who send me the parts to build the display case. I stained the oak parts in mahagony and put varnish over it. Then I glued the parts together. Finally I measured the slots for the glass panes and ordered them online. There are only two panes missing, then I will be totally finished.

Thank you Mort!

The figures were ordered from Krick, A German company. They were  the same scale as the ship 1:64 and from the same era (fortunately!). The only thing I had to do was paint them.

A masterpiece; very nicely done!

Thank you very much! It took a long time , but finally I made it.

I see that you are doing the Victory. That might be my next project, too. Initially I was hoping for the Amati Victory 1:64, but I am afraid they will never put it out for sale...
