I just looked up you "Hoga" build log, and yes, the deckhouse (your post #101 there)  and wheelhouse would have been wonderful candidates for "riveted" metal Skin structure. Maybe you are planing an appropriate Oldtimer steamship Project for the future.....

The drawings I have of the HOGA shows all the interior areas and furnishings.  I'm thinking of doing another HOGA with one side removed.  But there are so many builds on my list.

A little update....

 

Build log part 18

 

Part 1 of 2

 

 

the long promenade deck has to be roughly fitted, and to be supported with I-beams in the areas of the aft waist (one deck below). Although it`s a later building sequence I`ve been experimenting with the making of bollards, scoop bowls for the vents (there are so many different sizes !)

And also the making of the small 60 mm long lifeboats....., here is a first trial in clinkered version, if it works out OK, that would be my master lifeboat-plug for doing the whole batch in resin cast afterwards, other solutions pending

here a preliminary adjustment gauge (distances, alignment and perpendicularity of stanchions) is created

 

 

 

the markings will be transferred to the covering deck afterwards

 

 

 

the promenade deck will be made of sections, whereby the center remains open and unplanked

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

here some of the many bollards are made ( hollow rivets soldered into brass plates, and the center filled with a piece of round rod), then primered

added more year 1900 nostalgic (more straight) bow and sternpost (double-ender boats), and dd the lapstrake planking by means of self adhesive metal foil stripes

in answer to your question.....

in order to save time, and instead of making it from wood, I made the boat from two cut off (30 mm long) front portions of those odd plastic rowboats I still had, by glueing these face to face together. The resembled lapstrake planking is by stripes of self adhesive aluminium foil. Deck and interior of the small lifeboats will be done later. I would be happy if the "masterboat" will allow an appropriate and clean negative mould to be taken from it, for the resin casting of the "mass-production"

I`m momentarily in Progress of evaluating if I should rather plank the Long Promenade deck side-portions first, ( it would be easier to handle),  or to glue on These raw-deckparts, to the hull and do the planking later

with the lifeboats (how to make) I have to start thinking about at an early stage, because the final solution, resp. improvement / changes is still pending, same as with the many vents on the decks, These I would like to make from metal

I`m just working on the forecastle anchor / chain tubes (6 mm brass tubes), they will have to be faired and equipped wih flanges to sides and deck afterwards, but have to be dry fitted now in case some adjustments have to be made inside the ship.

The forecastle deck comprises 3 shaped parts....

The scetch (partial section) shows the arrangement of the other decks, at least how I intend to do them

that was one of those "flash-Ideas" I had during lunch today, seeking for a way to pin down the deck without making pinholes into it, as Long as the glue cures, but it`s only a dry fit in the moment

I have now made the forecastle deck, planked it and put it on permanently, further the anchor tubes dry fitted in with flanges on the sides.

Some days ago I bought some photo etched copper railing stripes (5 wire plus handrail). Will need to do some trials how to fasten these best. The stripes are only 8mm high (scale 1:144)

I think these stripes can be soldered to L-typ profiles and then fixed to the edges of the deck-planking
