When did the kit makers start lasercutting the bulkheads/frames?

I bought my Panart 'La Rose' kit on ebay.  It's OK, but it's evidently an old one, because I've got to cut out all my bulkheads etc myself.  Not a big problem - I bought a Hegner scrollsaw about thirty years ago and this'll be the first time I'll have had to use it in earnest!

But it's a warning, especially for newbies who might assume that they'd just have to punch out the bulkheads and notch them into the false keel.  Beware!   Older kits might not be as user-friendly as the ones the dealers are selling now!

So when DID laser-cut (or high pressure water cut) shapes become the norm with kits?
