Land Ho! 1620: A Seaman's Story of the Mayflower, Her Construction, Her Navigation, and Her First Landfall

Recommended Posts

Hello, all...

I figured I'd post this here, rather than in the book section, since this not only deals with plans for a ship, but also the research and history of a single ship in particular. However, if need be, a Mod can move it to whatever place they deem most appropriate. Anyway, I found (and ordered) this book online, called "Land Ho! 1620: A Seaman's Story of the Mayflower, Her Construction, Her Navigation, and Her First Landfall".

I figure this might be a good reference book for anyone building a model of the Mayflower, as it not only has a few good plans and cross-sections of the ship, but tells her story and has some good history on the ship as well. At least to my knowledge, there aren't too many books on the Mayflower that include plans, so this may help some people. IDK... I just figured I'd mention it and share it. Below is a picture of the book, along with a link to the page for it on Amazon:

About the NRG

If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
