HMS Bella by foxy - Sergal - fictional sloop using the President kit

Recommended Posts

Your build has nice timing. This is not a popular kit, and its nice to see someone working it. I have it on my shelf to start soon once i finish my swift. The provided quarter galleries annoy me, i plan on fabing my own too.

Current build:

Constructo Enterprise 1799

Completed build:

Artesania Latina Swift 1805

Started but on hold:

Sergal President 1760

Thanks very much Don, much appreciated.

Well have had second thoughts on the carronades and removed to add later the caldercraft 18 Pdrs.

Near finished the ratlines('phew') and added some of Dafis shroud cleats.

The rigging is coming on now.

DSCF7519_zps04ki7mok.jpg

With the carronades removed I have added the planking in the gun apertures.

DSCF7515_zpsyqrlgifo.jpg
Also the ratlines.

So overall picture so far.
You will note I have temp put ropes to hold Gaffs till block/ropes fitted.
This stops all flapping about while working on it.

So from a Frigate/fictitious to a near Brig.
The wife now wants this one in the window. :dancetl6:

Cheers Bob and Don.

I know what you mean Don, but its only about four to five hours do I work on this ship.

But plan ahead on whats next.

So two 18 Pdrs arrived today from Cornwall model boats, so it was to that and some ratlines i worked on today.

The 18 Pdr Carronades and two 4 Pdr guns.

DSCF7523_zpsszxeactt.jpg

Painted up with glos black and later will use Admiralty black.

DSCF7522_zpsv58qgtmc.jpg

18 Pdrs also have both Hum black and Admiralty red applied.

Last the 4 pounders, for the eyelets I used Dafis etched one's,( they come in handy for all types of ships).

DSCF7525_zpsple6vr5a.jpg

Will use dafis King George V mongrams later.

Well this ship is changing every day I look at it,'Yep still a Brig, but now with two 32Pdr Carronades and eight 18Pdr carronades.

So my work stared on the two from Cornwall Model boats.

DSCF7530_zps8ybat34m.jpg

I down sized the trucks width for this ship.

Once I have all the guns mounted will show pictures.

Note for the base i have two brass supports.

In the mean time its the ratlines,(yer I know).

Have the stands ready but still need a brass plate for the name.

Hi Bob.

Not fitting sails for now, but might later for the Gaff.

Need to get this finished so I can finish Victory, then maybe an other wood ship.

The carronades arrived from Cornwall Model Boats so its mass production time,(well six of them).

With the anchors, one boat to the stern, flag and some more rigging, its near done.

 Hmmm, You maybe right Bob.

Well all the Carronades are done.

DSCF7540_zpsanaueuux.jpg

All a board but for the roping.

DSCF7545_zpsykwrvilb.jpg

Anchors on but for the Boom Davit ropes and blocks.

DSCF7541_zpsiq2c0vof.jpg

Gaff boom all tied down.

DSCF7542_zpsgqty1lsc.jpg

So its the boat for the stern Davit, tie down the guns, raise the colours and a little more rigging.

Then its off into the night.

Frank,

I came across your build by searching "Burton Pendants." I am trying to figure out how to make mine. Your pictures were a real help. Thanks.

And wow, I am glad I came across this when I did. If I had waited any longer, you would have been done.

This is a beautiful build, and I applaud your decision to turn this kit into a fine sloop. I am going to follow along, I just hope that I can keep up with the pace.

Thanks very much fella's, really much appreciated.

The build has been fast and have made some mistakes along the way.

But really enjoyed the experience.

Darrell Hi matey.

The Way I did this was to wind rope around very thin aluminium, first by curling the bottom into a circle.
The other way I went around it was to just paint the rod black and tie rope to the end as shown in my build, both work.
It keeps a strait line when hanging.

Some add brass rings to the end of rope, this works too.

Well coming to the end now, with just the plaque and some more rope/tackle between the yards.
this will be done later.

So the final pictures are now ready to show.
If you have any more questions on the way I did this or complaints, just message me.

I used Syren blocks for all the tackle.

In the end I did add some figures as a talking point for my family.

So HM Brig Bella sails off into the night.

DSCF7557_zpsvpllh4uo.jpg

She is well armed and when she has her new sails there will be no stopping her.
Privateer roaming the channel with Captain palmer and his 120 officers and crew.

A up me lads.

Cheer Mike and Bob matey's.

Well not really thought on that yet Bob.

It will be in a window, so might have to do that.

The misses is off across the pond for a month, so I might set down and make one.

Been a great experience and still have Victory to finish and Pickle to do.

So It will be more to come.
